"Clampdown" - definition:

What Thai authorities do when they run out of "crackdowns"

Interesting what googling produces:

Which agency is the Commerce Minister going to unleash I wonder?

The whole country is in trouble and all the can come up with is more crackdowns. Maybe they should lower up to  300% luxury tax on in imported brand names to boost sales instead of hunting down pedlars

Jurin Laksanawisit, the deputy prime minister and commerce minister, on Thursday presided over the destruction of goods that infringed on intellectual property.

How is he going to break the news to China?

Does this mean that the Government will "clamp down" the illegal (pirated) versions on Microsoft Windows 7 used on all Government computers?
Specially the ones running on Immigration?

How many times have we heard this before?

Yes indeed and I am sure the many thousands of stalls selling counterfeit clothing and shoes etc. at village markets throughout rural Thailand it will be "business as usual" because the poorer people cannot afford the exorbitant genuine prices!
