Bees Left Something for Pooh Bear.

hundreds of bees made a hive in my yard. they did not bother me so no problem.

then after about a month they departed all at the same time and this was left behind.

I have been watching and there are no bees anywhere near. none coming or going for about two weeks now.

it does look as if it has "bee bodies or larvae" that are inside. but no movement.

my maid said "Worth a lot." is she right?

should i be like Pooh Bear and climb up and stick my nose in it?

You could remove it, check for honey if you like that ?

If not ask the maid if she wants it or knows someone that would and let them remove it for you.

Leave it as it is, and charge admission.

Charge double if any visitors "see" the lottery numbers.

How is it that you haven't cut it down yet and checked it for honey? It looks like the cells are mostly capped, so the chances are good there is free honey in there. How often do you get honey for free in Thailand eh?

Wild Thai bees produce about a kilo of honey per year. But you cant harvest it without a special setup or take it all without damaging the colony. My guess is that this hive is empty.

If you leave it there chance are another swarm will eventually set home there.

From memory 1 kilo of wild honey is worth about $150 in the middle east.

Those are the Dwarf Honeybee....Apis

Florea.

They absconded, no problem, moved to new location.

I am a Beekeeper in Chiang Mai.

Those bees look old and on their last legs....obviously from Hua Hin.

Tell them to be sure to send a post card ...NCC is missing them.

A good piece of advice is never go sticking your nose in the hired help.  No matter what she's worth.
