Thailand orders garment factories to compensate workers after illegal wages expose

BANGKOK (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Garment factories in Thailand that supply to global brands such as coffee giant Starbucks and sports gear maker Bauer Hockey were raided by police on Thursday and ordered to compensate hundreds of workers after an expose found illegal underpayments.

No wages in three months: Kan’buri factory in hot water

Three hundred Thai and Myanmar workers on Thursday filed human-trafficking complaints against a company in Kanchanaburi that processes vegetables and fruit for export, saying they hadn’t been paid for three months, costing them a combined Bt100 million.

Rights department to give slain Billy's family Bt200,000 compensation

Central Village confirmed aviation safe after inspection

Thai navy inks deal for LPD warship from China

Aside from naval missions, LPD’s can also be used for civilian purposes, like disaster relief and humanitarian rescues

China and Thailand have signed a deal that will see a Chinese shipbuilding company build a Type 071E landing platform dock (LPD) warship for the Thai navy, a move which shows deepened arms trade cooperation between the two countries, a Chinese military expert said on Wednesday.

Education Ministry to set example by banning two herbicides and one pesticide

The Ministry of Education will take the lead in banning the use of paraquat and glyphosate herbicides and chlorpyrifos pesticide in all 47 agricultural and fishery colleges under the ministry’s supervision.
