Frenchman caused Thai woman to fall off Pattaya balcony causing life changing injuries, then he fled abroad

The family of a 28 year old Thai woman who suffered serious injuries to her spine after falling five floors at a condominium in Pattaya have claimed that her French husband caused her to fall during an argument.

He has since gone abroad and refuses to take responsibility for what happened to his wife.

The Frenchman is believed to have helped run many nightclubs in both Pattaya and Bangkok and the family of the victim claims that he has used his influence with Pattaya police to escape justice in the case.

Sunisa, 28, from Surin, fell five floors from room 506 at the Art on the Hill condo in Soi 5, Pratumnak Hill back on June 16th at 2am. She is now unable to walk or take care of herself.

Yesterday Sunisa's mother Patcharaporn, 54 and her elder sister Natchaya, 32, went to human rights and problems in society lawyer Ronnarong Kaewpetch to ask him to help them seek justice for her.

Sunisa was a "PR" woman working at a Walking Street club and had been living with her husband for about a year. The family said they frequently had jealous arguments and he often beat her up.

On the night of her fall she had argued with him over going to another room to get clothes. Her husband thought she was cheating on him.

According to Sunisa he kicked, slapped and punched her and squeezed her throat making her almost pass out. He barred her exit from the condo's locked main door and armed himself with a knife.

She tried to scream out but no one came to her aid so she ran to the balcony and called out. The husband managed to open the sliding door and barged out causing Sunisa to fall to the ground.

She didn't jump as police and doctors have mistakenly assumed.

Natchaya said she had given up her job to care for her sister and there have been virtually no developments in the case in the last three months.

The Pattaya police have refused to answer her repeated calls and shown no interest in the case bar talking to the family just once, she said.

The Frenchman was working as an "organizer" at a Pattaya nightclub but also had connections to other clubs in Pattaya and Bangkok, she claimed.

She alleged that he had used his connections and influence with the Pattaya police to escape prosecution in the matter.

Lawyer Ronnarong said it was a highly serious case. If the husband was guilty of causing his wife to fall he should have faced criminal and civil proceedings.

He said that he intended to take the matter up with the Crime Suppression Division police today (Friday).

Thaivisa has withheld the name of the Frenchman that was mentioned in the Sanook report.

My sympathies to the young lady, but it might have been wise to push the claim before he left the country. If what they are saying is true, could be very hard work getting him to come back.

was she conscious and had her facilities about her to report anything after falling from that height? also it was assumed she jumped so  would they have stopped him especially since the article alluded to his 'connections'. I doubt he'll ever return to Thailand and the french will probably protect their own and say it was 'politically motivated' or some other bs.

I am very far from defending this supposed "low life scum", but we were not there and we do not know what's happened..... maybe it should be wiser to wait for some sort of investigation, chai mai?

Completely agree. We have only heard one side of the events. I know of otherwise sane and rational men who have been driven to madness by their Thai g/f's.

Having said that, my sympathy does out to this girl. It is tragic what happened to her, and I hope she can make some recovery at least in the future.

if farang falls from balcony, it is an accident, the wife is always out for a few days... kind of strange...

well, if he fled, she can have all his assets in thailand, right...

france will not deliver him to thailand, they know how it goes here...

suicided in his cell for a fee

There are many foreigners doing business in this night life here. Perhaps the police and the imigration should have a closer look. Sometimes they are easy to spot since they are the only customers in their bar. But there are big players too... I never forget this P.ss Stop Bar story for instance.

An unlikely story.

He already beat her so he armed himself with a knife? Why would he need a knife against someone likely much smaller than he, in a fight that he had already won?

He had a knife so she ran out and locked herself on the balcony? He opened the balcony door and caused her to fall? Note that they don't say he pushed her. It was because he barged out...

If he beat her all of the time, why would she continue to stay?

Influential? Art On The Hill is hardly a high end condo. One bedroom apartment perhaps 8,000 baht per month.

So many willing to throw him under the bus with no evidence whatsoever. Not even flimsy evidence, but none.

They want money, plain and simple.

He had probably been here long enough to realise that, the justice system here is not quite equivalent to the one back home. Even if he is totally blameless, in Thailand, it could be possible he could  be convicted, and, being farang versus Thai is not a good start.

If my wife went off a balcony here in Thailand the last thing I would do would be to run for I was brought up better than that. In this case though, with his history of domestic abuse, I guess he wanted to get away with murder - though it didn't work out too well for him for she was too tough. I hope they drag his woman beating ass back here and put him away for life. Scum like this sullies the rep of every expat here in Thailand's eyes and with human trash like this no wonder some don't want us here.
