FYI

Today, 9.30am in Ayudhya Bank/Kasikorn at Jomtien/Dongtan Beach branch.

Wearing long trousers and decent shirt (both of us).

Open saving account for my (Swiss) wife.

I was only with her as driver ????

Passport with 30 days extempt stamp, TM6, TM30 and certificate of residence from Immigration Jomtien.

45 minutes later out with Visa/ATM (debit card) and one time pin to create online banking account at home with the smartphone.

Did you open a bank account at two banks or did you mean to write "Krungsri" instead of "Kasikorn"?

A one year rental contract should also be accepted, instead of the certificate of residence.

Good to hear, that it is still possible. But it's becoming more and more difficult without a longstay visa.

And as just in another thread "Krabi" even with a longstay visa the person has problems to open a bank account in many different branches.

I know from one Kasikorn branch in Bangkok, which before was easy to open an new account. Now they want see a longstay visa. Even if you already have an account with them (for example for opening a new Fixed deposit account). Sometimes a yellow book also could help when the visa is not correct, as for KTB this year, they were not interested in the Visa.. but the yellow book did the thing.
