Popular Post Yinn
Before I worked at a pHuket Hotel on my university holiday times. I enjoy talk to the foreigner a lot. Many customer come Thailand many times before. Many said they like thai food, the weather and the thai people. We had the good conversation, laugh and joke, they tell me about there country and ask me about Thailand. Is very friendly. Some customer come to thailand every year. Some come here 20 time already. We are family resort, so a lot of kid also. Fun. I read TVF now about 4 month already. Quite interesting to read farang who live in Thailand and how they think. This is my merely opinion. (IMO) Also I “generally speaking”. I know not all farang the same. Every country have good and bad people. Most people are good. Many farang are really lovely and polite, love Thailand and have many Thai friend. I think there thai friend show the good place that not just the foreign tourist spot. The Thai friend help them. They see real Thailand. They like thai people and thai people like them. Positive people. They understand Thailand the most. This people happy the most. (IMO) But also have a lot of expat REALLY hate Thai people. This really shock me. I see before farang not friendly, not have happy face. But not understand why they hate us so much. Is true. This people complain, criticize, ridicule and mock Thai people every time. Not able to think positive. They hate “Thai male” the most. They not have thai friend. All opinion from bad news story about bad thai people. So they believe all thai is same that one. The opinion not from “real life”, is from bad news story. Often fake news. They REALLY want Thailand to fail, they happy when Thai people die in the flood, on motorcycle, murder. Below is some post from ONE foreigner in Thailand. Just use him example to show what I say about. He the typical example. When he says “Thais......” they is talking about me, my mum, my dad. Is offensive. He try to make everyone hate thai people same him. I think fair I can reply to this people. PS This people say also believe Thai people hate farang. You should know that 95% of thai people not think/care about/ ever see/ ever talk to farang. We not talk about how we hate farang. We think/ care about what our family, friends, neighbor do. We think more about our pet. Farang not important in the thai life. We think about farang same than you think about Oman, New Guinea, Khazaksatan and Nauru people. Most thai people have no opinion about farang. Or New Guinea people. And not all Thai people think/do the same. Some thai people bad sure. But I think most of us are ok. Some very good people. Everybody welcome to Thailand if polite. Our culture is to be friendly. We want you enjoy, have good time if you come to Thailand. This just some post from one member. Many member is the same. Nearly every thread have a lot of comment like this one. This comment get a lot of “like” everytime. I just chose this guy because he use simple English. (Please don’t name him, because against the forum rule.) Why so many people hate us so much? Thailand. Such a boring, repetitive place. They most definitely deserve whatever outcome befalls them. And, I knew the smiles were fake from day 1. The Thais, as much as I generally don't like them, have an impressive imperviousness to outside influence. I love seeing them suffer. They bang on incessantly about how great it is and how proud they are to be Thai Another common character trait I dislike about Thailand. I don't have a superiority complex. I have superiority. I am superior. I handle this by ensuring my life in Thailand involves as few of them as possible, and this keeps me sane, and relatively happy. For me, their arrogance is too much to bear. Pathetic Thai-ness! Never forget you have your own culture and customs, many of which are far superior. Thais are either too cowardly or simply don't care about right vs wrong and have no moral compass. I can hardly tolerate most Thais I have encountered. While I would love to 'revolt', we all know we farang won't. We don't do revolts well. We'd rather tear down other farang rather than supporting each other. If there was ever a population that deserved to be perpetually exploited, some might say Thais deserve it for their lack of will to shed blood for what is right. There is almost NOTHING NICE of high quality in Thailand, human or otherwise. Most of the normal Thais aspire to the same standards. They care only about wealth and power. Image distortion is a mental illness that most of Thailand suffers from. Who would expect him, or even an average Thai civilian, to care about criminality, The reality likely that an extremely high percentage of nationals deeply dislike you just for the color of your skin or the country you come from. Typical Thainess Thainess example 107 In other words, Thainess They are such clowns, the lot of them. The ONLY good reason to learn Thai is to protect ourselves from the pervasive Thai predatory environment. Learning Thai certainly helps in many aspects of Thailand life. It's intellectually stagnant. In fact, one might say it's anti-intellectual. Thailand is a horrid place to raise children It's one of the reasons I can't tolerate the people. Farang who care about their biological children are wise to avoid socializing the children in Thailand. Arrogantly run all the people away, then, while wearing smug, fake smiles, whore the country out again, begging for them to come back and spend money. We Farang really need to stop being so compassionate with these people. I really wish they would just have REAL pride and state their disgust of farang and ban all of us. I could respect that. Thais, however, are notorious for not being able or being unwilling to pay medical bills. I hate most things about Thailand, and I have more money than I can spend easily in my remaining years. And I love complaining, too. Since I love to hate the place, I'm planning to stay and complain. Thais will continue to be xenophobic and closed off as much as possible to foreigners. Any clued up Westerner knows that if a Thai approaches you to talk 9 times out of 10 it is a scam. very typical of Thai to target the weakest in any confrontation. Thai work culture is about the most inefficient I've ever seen anywhere across dozens of countries I've worked in. Then I consider that, if your friend is anything like an average Thai, would she be corrupt just like so many other Thais if she had the opportunity? Play Thais at their own games. I meet my friends in nice countries, not Thailand. A Thai professor friend of mine who teaches at Chulalongkorn University Farang with actual close, educated Thai friends and family are more likely to know this. I have a couple female friends who are THAI Air flight attendants I don't care that Thais don't like me. Most of them will never have any significant impact on the world. Their lives are useless. I think that MOST Thais dislike Farang. In Thailand, most Thais don't trust other Thais I know 95% of Thai people like Thai people I am smart enough to know how Thailand works. I strongly support my fellow farangs Thais must earn respect, and generally they DO NOT treat foreigners with the same respect they offer each other Always find it amazing how expats can ignore all the many and pervasive "us vs them" xenophobic culture in Asia and especially derivative Chinese countries like Thailand. I don't know of ANY country where Thais have a good or even neutral reputation. I am still convinced hatred of foreigners is commonplace. I care only about my fellow decent Farang. Thais simply don't care about Farang; we are not humans to them. I've been frustrated by this for years in Thailand Many of us could see through the fake plastic Thai smiles from day one. I don't want to risk them poisoning my food or similar, so I simply avoid dealing with them wherever and whenever possible. How pathetic. A nation of children The reality is that his supporters would be FULL of middle class and wealthy Thais who, for example, despise westerners just because their skin is white. Typical excessively sentimental Thais. Maybe a somtam party with loud, horrible music and cheap, poisonous rice liquor will help. Farang will spare no opportunities to make these snob Thai-Chinese aware of how unskilled and unclassy and poorly educated and poorly cultured they are. Unless an entrepreneur is building a enterprise of grilled pork stands, there really is no business case for hiring a bunch of Thais. Thailand is a TERRIBLE place for people with money and class and manners and intellect and worldliness. one almost never sees Thais mixing with foreigners. Thailand is an absolutely horrible for a young expat to work 15 3 4

Popular Post robblok
I like Thai people as much as I do English people or Dutch people or whatever people. It depends on the person and if we can communicate or not. After that it depends if we got things in common. Unlike many of the people you describe I don't need to look down on others to feel good myself. Just remember its a forum with a lot of old jagged guys who have been burned a few times.
Popular Post Nyezhov
Nice Topic Yinn. Personally, I have 99% positive view of Thai folks as I have always been treated with honesty and respect, although I think the Fruit Lady short weighted me last night on some grapes overcharging me 5 baht. She needs it more than me. Hope I dont go bankrupt. I think Thai folks, men and women, are generally cool, maybe some of the coolest folks around, and if I didnt like them, I wouldnt have been coming here for so long. I give a smile and a nod, I get one back. Works for me. I just wish you all wouldnt drive like maniacs and I wish you all would take more care of your environment. PS hows the weather in Ranong, I need to go somewhere soon. Edited September 18, 2019 by Nyezhov

I can't say that there are nationalities i like more then others, for me its more about finding common ground and communicating. Thais have some bad habits like how some of them drive and litter. Then again if there were not many checks in my country people would drive bad too. Before we had a lot of drivers drinking and driving and only with enforcement did it stop. Its not about good or bad.. its about enforcement. I must say I have some really nice Thai people near me and some bad ones. Kinda like how it would be back where I am from. Right now we got parking wars going on in front of my home, some idiots have 3 cars and there is just not enough place. So they are all not happy lots of gossip and anger. But not a Thai thing just a design thing.
Popular Post LennyW
Yinn, dont use Thaivisa as a gauge, there is a disproportionate amount of complaining foreigners on here, but these types will complain and look for faults wherever they are, the quoted poster seems to have somewhat extreme more deep rooted issues - maybe medical or even psychological issues!! As you said yourself, we are not all the same....thankfully!

Popular Post sirineou
Very Long OP. Not sure if real or someone posing as a Thai . Just on the outside chance that this is real. Personally I have often said that it would be very embarrassing to me if my Thai family became aware of the way some "Farangs" talk about them. If I had to rank Thai people in the likability scale I would rank them Above average, If I needed one word to describe them, I would say "resourceful" . I have the pleasure to interact with many of them in my everyday life in Issan and I am always amazed by their creative solution to problems, and their ability to do so much with so litle. I think the way some farangs talk about Thai people tells more about them than it does about Thai people. Popular Post cmsally
Quote When he says “Thais......” they is talking about me, my mum, my dad. Is offensive. Actually , no, he is just making a gross generalisation. I wouldn't be offended if someone hated or criticised "farang" or "British" people. Why would I take offense, there are millions of them? In the case of most "British" people we do criticism and moaning very well, it is sometimes a national past time. There is also the other angle in that people often criticise meaning well, in that they think it will foster grounds for improvement.

Popular Post Dmaxdan
Pretty much all the Thai people I have personally encountered I have liked. As someone who lives in a village community made up of entirely Thai people and me, I can honestly say that I have been treated from day one with nothing but respect by all the locals. I have done my upmost to reciprocate this by being respectful of local customs and attending as many local events as possible. I'm generally in awe of how the local community comes together in times of happiness and sorrow. Perhaps i would feel differently if I lived somewhere where some Thais are out to fleece you... 7
