The head of immigration grew tired of the complaints about his requirements, as he said these certificates are not a immigration function go to your consulate.

How would the consulates know your present address? Of course it's the immigrations duty to know this, why do you think they want TM30, TM28 and the 90 day reports?

I'm surprised that immigration offices in Germany ,Sweden etc don't have english speaking staff . From my experience in France , they most certainly do , as they do in Japan . " Just about the only non English speaking country I've come across where people seem to expect govt officials to speak to you in english , is Thailand ".   Rubbish .

I'm speaking from personal experience. Just because it doesn't match your view of the world doesn't make it "rubbish" it just reflects a different experience.

Thank you so much for your input Mr. Chiang Mai Immigration Officer.  I have never experienced that sort of speedy service when visiting your office complex.  Maybe it is because so many people have left for less restrictive countries.  You guys have done a great job getting westerners to leave.  Keep up the good work ????

I stopped going there 4 years back, it's a great improvement.

Flying out to HaNoi on Thursday for the weekend.

Way quicker and easier than queuing and begging at CM immigration, and I can wear shorts!

And they don't make me get additional photocopies of anything.

What's the cost of a return flight to Hanoi plus presumably accommodation, compared to using an agent in Chiang Mai?

I went to the Chiangmai Immigration office today for a Certificate of Residence.

Thank you for the good report.

I am new to Chiang Mai (4 yrs Thailand on Ret. Ext), Single and rent a condo in my name.
I will need a Cert. of Res for my Pickup / motorbike and Drivers License.

Can I ask what documents did Chiang Mai Immigration require for the Certificate of Residence?

Thank you

You can apply only between 8.00 and 10.00 am on the second floor for your residency certificate.......once the paperwork is processed they will issue you with a ticket to collect your certificate in 14 days time after 4.00 pm . There is no fee for this, so you just need to get it 2 weeks before...or, if you need it in a hurry they will charge you 1000 baht and issue it immediately or 500 baht and pick up next day.....that’s how it was working 3 weeks ago.

Its a good service......seems fair to me.

Is there a good reason why it takes 14 days plus to get this document?

Is it a simple one page document? (I've never seen it.)

Is there a lot of preparation needed to make this document?
