Posting A Laptop

Featured Replies

Hi, just wondering if anyone has posted a laptop from overseas into Thailand?

I'm curious as to how much tax I'm going to have to pay when it gets here, and am also curious if it is well packed would there still be a good chance that the laptop could be damaged?

Thanks in advance.

The real: % Import Duty on complete Computer systems and a Laptop is a complete system.

But there's 20-65% Import Duty for CD's!!

If you want to know the exact percentage, you should go to the Costum House at Klong Toi and take a look into the Value/Duty Book!

If the shipment isn't signed correctly as Fragilethere is a change that it comes damaged! Even depend on kind of packaging.

You'll see!

Leave it in original packaging, include a commercial invoice so customs have a number to work with and won't make up a value, you will pay tax, I forgot how many % now, but not as excessive as in some other countries.

Some people use re-shipping / freight companies / friends who include commercial invoices and underdeclare the real value. Of course this would affect your insured value if you need to claim damage from the courier company.

DHL arrived in a good condition, if it's in original packaging I would not worry about damage.
