Jiraphon Kawswat, president and chief executive officer at PTT, said his agency will promote the use of B10 diesel to help with government efforts to fight air pollution. He added that 70 PTT petrol stations will provide UltraForce Diesel B10 from this month onwards, and it should be available in all PTT stations nationwide by March 1.

B10 contains 10 per cent biodiesel, which is believed to be carbon neutral and less polluting.

Isn't every fuel carbon neutral?

Fuel is basically carbon trapped in the earth that turned to liquid over millions of years of time.

When you burn fuels the amount of carbon being released is exactly the same as the amount of carbon it took out of circulation millions of years ago which makes it "neutral".

If you forget what the climate was like at that time.

Plants/trees take carbon out of the system but at the moment we seem to be removing as many trees as we can to provide farmland and burning those removed trees sticks more carbon back in the atmosphere, but, we're removing more trees that help to remove it.

Most modern countries are moving away from diesel as quickly as they can.  In countries like thailand people dont adequately service their cars and after some years huge emissions result.  Hence Bangkok's horrendous pollution problem.

Not quite. If you ask the average driver what happens to all the exhaust gases they will tell you they blow away so it's 'gone'. Understand now??

Believed to be less polluting?. Sorry there should be a statement backed with scientific evidence to show that this biodiesel IS less polluting.

This is just a Goverment backed plug for the fuel to promote sales and clear a surplus of the bio element in a depressed market

I you could be bothered to come off your barstool you would find that there are many scientific studies been done worldwide in the past 5 years, and available to the public, which all have as a result that it is MUCH less polluting.

I asked my pick up company if i could  use bio  diesel in my pick up and they said 2017  model they advise against it.

You are already using it, it's all B3 now, and if you have been using you truck before 2016 it'd have been B5 even

only some newer models support the new cheaper B10

Yes, so they believe. Personally, I believe there are influential palm oil producers that can make money from this...

Strange as it may seem if you burn 1000 grams of fossil fuel carbon you produce more than 1000 grams of carbon dioxide.

And one gallon of fuel comes from around 98 tons of original prehistoric plant and animal life.

Slowly we see a shift in awarenss, at least amongst the leaders...but , it will be years before we see any results...if ever...

Yep. Can't quite see all the coal powered generating stations closing down soon. Got to produce more and more electricity to charge all those eco-friendly electric cars and one of those eco-friendly electric cars takes, what, 5 tons of fossil fuel to make???

Biggest con' on the planet.

To power them all with solar farms you would have to cover 50% of the country with them so there would be less land to produce food. A great idea the electric car is not. It's a huge marketing exercise ( con' ) to get more of your money.

certain caravan clubs on the from the emerald seem to have no problem using biodiesel. they run derv's on it at 100% if supply allows. problem being different groups fight over the supply . ( used cooking oil from takeaways and restaurants left out the backs of kitchens)

doesn't seem to cause problems on their transits and other vehicles

C+O2=CO2 . yes that does seem strange.

As you note C say 1 kilo. Every one C joins two O so the end result is 1 kilo of C plus the weight of two O for each 1 C

General answer. Not directed at you.????

Some will be questioning  how a kilo of C can be lighter than a kilo of Co2. ????

Just a habit after some of the statements I've heard from expat experts who still believe The Sun in UK is a good source for facts and knowledge.

lets not get into organic chemistry. I was happy making trichlorophenol as a project, but disappointed at being denied  attempting, precursor to C25H20N3O.

hey ho, but teacher was happy to demonstrate the effects of the stock he had of pycric acid.

how h and s has changed since then.

I went into electronic engineering, but that changed, my knowledge is redundant. I aim to be hgv driver soon.

people believe what they read on the internet, 'The Sun' was the precursor. people believe what they want whether internet or tabloid. what rocks their boat will always rock their boat. sad
