Central Bank to use biometric technology in opening saving accounts

Siritida Panomwan, Bank of Thailand’s assistant governor for payment systems policy and financial technology group, said on Monday (October 7) that 10 commercial banks and non-bank financial institutes were participating in BoT’s regulatory sandbox project to test-run the use of biometric technology known as e-kyc (electronic know your customer) to electronically verify the identity of customers.

Thai student with suspected IS link released by Egypt

The Thai student, who has been held in custody in Egypt by the country’s security officials since his arrest on September 24th on suspicion of links to Islamic State, has been released and returned to his family in the southern Thai province of Yala.

Electricity outage to hit Patong

PHUKET: Phuket City Municipality has assigned King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok campus to carry out a project to study and design the construction of an infectious waste disposal system to cope with the rising volume of medical waste on the island.

McKinney woman gets 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to her role in planning husband's murder
