Crime Brutal Killing of Myanmar Man in Suphanburi
Picture courtesy of Amarin. Police in Suphanburi have launched an investigation following the discovery on 7 August, of a Myanmar man’s body in a pool of blood inside a commercial building. The victim had suffered horrific head wounds in what authorities are treating as a brutal murder. The body of 38-year-old Zaw Myo Min was found on the second floor of a shophouse located at 350/1 in Tha Phi Liang subdistrict, Mueang Suphanburi district. He was discovered lying on his back, shirtless and wearing only a traditional sarong. Two deep, gaping wounds to the head, which had penetrated the skull and through the brain, were evident and the room was reportedly strewn with blood and overturned belongings. A knife and a pair of scissors were found next to the body. Police investigators, forensic officers, medical personnel from Chao Phraya Yommarat Hospital and rescue workers from the Nen Kaew Highway Rescue Association responded to the scene. According to Ms. Mai, the victim was a known heavy drinker and had no stable employment. She and her husband had previously found him sleeping at the local market and, out of sympathy, allowed him to stay in a storeroom they were renting. She last saw him alive the previous evening and had spoken to him briefly. Pol. Col. Wanchai Khaoram, Superintendent of Mueang Suphanburi Police Station, confirmed that CCTV footage showed the victim being dropped off by a friend on a motorcycle at around 19:00, the previous evening. Shortly after, another man, whose identity is not yet known, was seen entering the building. Moments later, the same man was seen leaving through a side gate. Police have now launched a manhunt and are reviewing footage and questioning the victim’s acquaintances to identify the suspect. Ms. Mai told officers that although the victim drank heavily, he had never caused trouble or argued with others. The motive for the killing remains unclear. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Police have vowed to bring the perpetrator to justice and are continuing to collect forensic evidence from the scene.
