May called a snap election in 2017 confident in increasing her majority. She had a 20 point lead in the polls and lost her majority. Currently johnson has a 16 point lead in the polls and no majority.

I believe that there are a few more arias to be sung before the fat lady sings.

She was a remainer, she sabotaged the whole thing from the moment she got in until she was unceremoniously  dumped

Also Catweasel lied to the students about  student loans and got their vote

He can't tell those lies again

Utter BS, there are much easier ways to make money than this Brexit debacle.

Anybody who thinks like this is absolutely clueless about finance.

Not everybody has this miserable outlook like the re moan ers

I had to split re moan ers up as it was deemed to be a 'deleted' word. What the <deleted> has happened to censorship on this forum

No it wouldn't make more sense, since Remainers don't accept the result of Referendums unless they win, so we need a General Election to remove them from Parliament and replace them with individuals who respect Democracy.

There are no guarantees on the outcome of a GE, which is always about far more than a single issue (remember 2017?)

The people's vote would settle the matter one way or the other with no ambiguity. The key is in the word "binding" which Cameron conveniently omitted from the 2016 referendum bill.

At last,  Brexit Party and Nigel can have their day... Mind you,  talk of not allowing  over 70s to vote and reducing the age to 16....dirty tactics as usual by leftist scum

Johnson taking a huge gamble, although the bookmakers have him down for a majority ... but that will depend on getting traditional Labour voters in the North of England voting for him to make up for losses in Scotland to SNP and in England to the Lib Dem’s.

I think the bookies are wrong ... we’re heading for a hung parliament followed by a second referendum. Still life in the old Brexit dog yet!

AlexRich, you will be AlexPoor if you go against the bookies....

Binding by law? What's the point of laws when Parliament just changes them to suit it's own agenda? It was law under A50 that we'd leave with No Deal if nothing had been agreed, and the Remain Parliament simply changed the law so that we couldn't leave. No thanks, I don't trust this Remain Parliament one inch so they can shove their "Binding people's vote" up Bercow's chocolate starfish.

If you think this GE is about anything other than Brexit then you're kidding yourself.

You mean common sense scraped by in 2016?

If so, the UK should have honored that vote and left shortly after.

Time and a lot of information have moved on. It is now 2019, in fact nearly 2020. Let all the new young voters have a say.

So why not let 12 year olds have the vote too, after all they probably think the same and if truth be known all they care about the likes of Grand Theft Autos games.

Why Labour want 'the young' to have the vote is that most of our schools and the media (IMO) are now run by the left and are more likely to indocrinate our young.

Here is a quote from a teacher, Holly Rigby: "Told some 8s there's going to be an election. Their chat has restored my faith"

"My mum said that Labour is gonna give us a three day weekend and free tuition fees"...

"Also does that mean that wasteman Johnson will be gone"

I feel teachers should be less like John Bercow and be more neutral and start letting our children think for themselves, instead of brainwashing them.

Agree. There should have been a referendum before we joined the EEC.

We did have a vote in 1975 and were bribed with longer holidays, a European super state

But that was May who would not appear on a TV debate and who alienated the voters with her mad dementia tax, she was a hopeless campaigner who only muttered 'strong and stable government'. Boris is completely different, he will be an effective campaigner, agreed to a tv debate with comrade Corbyn, who I expect he will wipe the floor with. Expect him to get at least a 20 majority then it's goodbye EU.

A General Election.

Hmm, I know, we could call it "the peoples vote!"

Of course, if it produces the "wrong result" no doubt it will be claimed that it was " only advisory"...

A specific "quality" of a GE is that it is the only time at which the public are not advisors and are, quite determinedly, participants.

All this time and yet so many have taken no opportunity to familiarise themselves with UK Constitution, Convention, Precedent/Law.

Pure ignorance.

IMHO, this GE will be like a 2nd referendum.

It should be.

All Brexiteers vote for the Cons and/or Farage the Fascist,

and all Remainers vote for the Lib Dems and common sense.

Simples.

And Labour can come last because nobody knows where they stand.

What a Muppet government.

Isn't there a law that the Queen can fire all of them, the ones in parlament and house?

Their job is to represent what the people want, the only thing these muppets worry about is their own seat in parlament/house. They should all go...

On 23 June 2016, the recorded result was that the UK voted to leave the European Union by 51.89% for Leave to 48.11% for Remain, a margin of 3.78%. This corresponded to 17,410,742 votes to leave and 16,141,241 to remain, a margin of 1,269,501 votes

This was the biggest voter turnout in UK history. In a Democracy the majority vote wins.

Until somebody comes up with a better solution, this is how Democracy works, the winner takes it all, LEAVE won and they won hands down by a margin of 4%.

Totally missed the point. What leave? That was the job of an elected parliament, a group of people who were voted in to office AFTER the referendum result ... the "people" tasked them with the job ... and the people clearly did not vote for a "no deal" parliament.

Good old Ch 4. No proof of anything. Somerset invests in emerging markets - that's what they are about - sod all to do with Brexit.

If you want opinions, here's mine: In the event of a Conservative majority: Johnson tries to run down the clock again, without the bill passing and gets his wish for a no deal Brexit on January 31st. Calling a December election helps that plan. If the bill passes, we leave the EU and have two years to agree to a trade deal. Johnson will deliberately screw that up and we are out of the EU with no deal. A win win for Johnson and his backers who have laid big money on the British economy crashing. The bigger the crash, the more they make.

Rubbish
