Someday, Bangkok might have to move. Where do you think the new capital city should be in Thailand?

Why move the capital?

Just ban all private cars from the city. Cars and Trucks are only allowed to enter the city if transporting goods.

Offer enough bus lines (and busses).

No more traffic jams without relocating the capital.

As U Tpao airport can be vastly extend, the new highway and the planned high speed train...any area around Sattahip would meet the needs

Move it to Chiang Mai. Mandate electric vehicles, and jail any poo yai of villages that allow burning in February/March. Make Thaksin or Yingluck the mayor. Problem solved.

Chaeng Wattana already started. All the VIP can live in adjacent Nonthaburi. Buy all new flash suburban homes. Kids have access to good universities and schools by rail. MUIDS, Wittayasorn are out that way kinda sorta. Just need a good hospital or two. DMK nearby. Rail everywhere by 2023. That's my guess.

 

Eastern seaboard will be big goose egg.

should be connected to the Pan Asia railway network.

Isn't the issue about flooding, not traffic.

The title of the article to which OP posted a link is "Thailand PM considers moving capital as Bangkok congestion takes toll", so this seems to be about traffic

Me thinks it might be somewhat difficult to move Bangkok. I think the issue is about creating a new capitol.

Definitely Chiang Mai. This would do wonders for the value of my property there.

Nakhon Nayok, while quite a sensible location in many regards, would likely spell the end of Khao Yai and the National Park adjacent to it.
