November 14, 20196 yr Application fee was a common practice with some US carriers up to the late 90s.
November 14, 20196 yr I guess the fee is there not to get frivolous and less serious applications. If u pay you r most likely serious about the job.

In countries like Thailand Flight Attendant positions are considered glamorous and highly paid, as such most young women would want to be a flight attendant - the pool of occupants would be overwhelming with many completely chancing their luck and having no real chance of passing the application process - the 'application charge' is nothing more than a measure to filter out those who know they are unrealistic applicants.

But that disadvantages genuine applicants who have all the right attributes, attidudes, behaviors and ability to learn and do the job well, but have little funds to lodge the application. A sort of unfair discrimination. And doesn't support 'equal opportunity'.

Don't worry; daughters, nieces, daughters of cronies and mia noi are probably automatically on the candidate list and way outside of application fees, and automatically near the top of the candidate list because of favors, tea money and whatever. and also exempted from the requirement to be able to swim 200 meters (not sure of the distance, but this requirement does exist). Then they can enjoy their 'sponsor' pulling strings to ensure they get schedules for the flights they want; Paris, London, but of course only when it's not too cold....

November 14, 20196 yr Only 1,200 BAHT! That's nothing compared to what you have to pay to buy a job as a policeman, immigration officer, or teacher. These would-be flight attendants should be ashamed of themselves for paying so little.

Some of this bitterness reads like jealousy... Some guys expressing a little bitterness that their farm-girl cannot get a decent job and is either stuck in a factory or requesting a monthly stipend to stick around....

November 17, 20196 yr Apparently Jetstar is B5000, sign of the times. My first job 25 years ago cost me $3000 which was eventually refunded and I ended up with a great pension risk v reward. Good luck to the applicants
November 18, 20196 yr 50 % of the top management should be fired right away and 50% of the rest couple of month later. From the employees in charge you also can fire 50% and better set up training for the staff to be on international level! A concept for all over Thailand if i follow up the working skills!
