I dont understand your reference to Mays stance of no deal is better than a bad deal. Johnsons deal is Mays deal just with a border down the Irish sea. As I said it was voted through the commons but Johnson suddenly decided he didnt want his own deal.

For a while I tried to understand the proponents of a Brexit. I mainly see a wish to go back to the past. Everything used to be better. But those people don't understand that the world has changed.

 

I am Dutch. We used to own half of the world. New York was Dutch. We owned countries in South America and Indonesia was ours. We won almost all wars. My small country was a world power.

 

And what is it now? We are a small dot on the globe. Most countries are more a threat than an ally. Do you really think that we would have a good negotiating position with the US or China when talking about trade? They will only laugh at us. The idea that we can achieve more independently than in a partnership is absurd.

 

I think the UK over estimates their strength and possibilities. I am curious to see what will happen.

 

 

But I really like the Netherlands (though I've not been out of Schiphol recently) , whether or not it can negotiate with the US or China never really comes into my thoughts. 

Doubt it will be any better economically in the UK, just different, once the UK leaves, but it removes some empire building politicians, an extra arms length away,  though there are still some in the UK.

Well, the implication has been that the UK has been Islamified to some extent, and the EU is to blame for this. Whilst there are clear cases of Muslims established in Europe with passports of European nations (ie Somalians), moving to the UK under the free movement deal, I would suggest the majority of Muslims in the UK come from the sub-continent, nothing to do with the EU. Most of those UK Muslims who have been radicalised seem to be either Muslims born in the UK or those who travelled to the Middle-East at some point. 

I don't see the EU as playing a significant role regarding problems of integration in the UK.
