2008 was almost impossible to predict because ALL the banks were up to the same scams. All were bundling bad debt and showing it as good debt on their balance sheets and borrowing money off each other on the strength of it. When one domino fell they all did. The lot of them should be behind bars as far as Im concerned charged with fraud. You might remember people like Johnson defending the bankers though?

I dont understand your reference to Mays stance of no deal is better than a bad deal. Johnsons deal is Mays deal just with a border down the Irish sea. As I said it was voted through the commons but Johnson suddenly decided he didnt want his own deal.

Johnson defended the banks?perhaps he did..who bailed them out with taxpayers money ? Brown---- labour

Blimey that is pretty niche though I was a fan of Arthur back in the day. He's 81 now and never a scab and would never vote Tory.

17.01.2019 – Arthur Scargill’s statement on Jeremy Corbyn’s betrayal of Brexit

“Jeremy Corbyn’s statement that any discussions with the government will only take place provided that ‘no deal’ is taken off the table is not only deplorable but an act of betrayal of both socialist principle and a betrayal of the democratic vote of the British people and the 60 per cent of Labour constituencies who voted to leave the European Union including its corrupt Customs Union, it’s rigged Single Market and it’s unacceptable Free Movement of workers and Capital. His appalling abandonment of his previous position would have been condemned by the late Tony Benn; Michael Foot and is condemned by me who for over 40 years regarded him as a comrade and friend. No More.” (Arthur Scargill)

Kinnock was another armchair socialist, plenty of yammer and no backbone.

He shouldn't have said it, but I think he is right.

Brexit is comparable to mawa, a longing for the good old times. But old times never come back.

When these countries see what will happen with the UK I am sure they will have no wish to leave.

For a while I tried to understand the proponents of a Brexit. I mainly see a wish to go back to the past. Everything used to be better. But those people don't understand that the world has changed.

I am Dutch. We used to own half of the world. New York was Dutch. We owned countries in South America and Indonesia was ours. We won almost all wars. My small country was a world power.

And what is it now? We are a small dot on the globe. Most countries are more a threat than an ally. Do you really think that we would have a good negotiating position with the US or China when talking about trade? They will only laugh at us. The idea that we can achieve more independently than in a partnership is absurd.

I think the UK over estimates their strength and possibilities. I am curious to see what will happen.

But I really like the Netherlands (though I've not been out of Schiphol recently) , whether or not it can negotiate with the US or China never really comes into my thoughts.

Doubt it will be any better economically in the UK, just different, once the UK leaves, but it removes some empire building politicians, an extra arms length away,  though there are still some in the UK.

Indeed, but does anyone expect him to say anything positive about Brexit? All he sees is all that lovely money not being available for the EU to waste on <deleted>.

And where are these Muslims from? Bosnia? I don't think so.

Is the Uk being forced to adopt Albanian dance moves or Greek cooking?

Who controls these gangs grooming children? There are plenty of Romanian beggar gangs but your target is further east I believe, in West Asia.

Nothing to do with the EU for fick's sake!

Plenty to do with the eu,all any European country who want to get rid of migrants has to do is give them a passport and a one way ticket to the uk and under the" freedom of movement " there's sweet fa we could have done.

Well, the implication has been that the UK has been Islamified to some extent, and the EU is to blame for this. Whilst there are clear cases of Muslims established in Europe with passports of European nations (ie Somalians), moving to the UK under the free movement deal, I would suggest the majority of Muslims in the UK come from the sub-continent, nothing to do with the EU. Most of those UK Muslims who have been radicalised seem to be either Muslims born in the UK or those who travelled to the Middle-East at some point.

I don't see the EU as playing a significant role regarding problems of integration in the UK.

"Implication" i.e putting words in people's mouths.your fine points are academic as the majority of uk citizens voted to leave.
