The Crime Suppression Division (CSD) of the Royal Thai Police has set up a new SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) unit to replace its predecessor, the police commando unit, which was moved under the Ratchawallop Royal Guards Command.

The new SWAT unit, officially named the Hanuman unit, after the monkey god Hanuman, the faithful knight and servant of god Rama in the Indian epic Ramayana, is currently staffed by 40 officers under the command of Pol Col Wichak Darom, superintendent of the support unit of the CSD.

CSD commander Pol Maj-Gen Chikrapob Phuridet said that the new unit, well equipped with light and heavy weaponry, will support other CSD units to handle special or unique situations.  Its call signs are Hanuman or Narai 1.

Thais watch entirely too many American television shows. Unfortunately.

In fact, TVs are becoming more and more extinct in homes.
Thai people spend their lives on their smartphones watching and cheating each other ..
As for the TV, there are some American movies very badly doubled and especially cut many times for stupid advertising:

Anyway; at home, it is almost always extinguished.

I remember seeing SWAT here driving along the road to what I assume was a bust. The first thing that came into my head as I saw them in all their attire and gear was, "There go some adults in dress-up".

Apparently a couple of locals had some weed stored in their house. Absolute overkill.

Just like most other things here.

Most are only playing dress up.

And, of course we know the look is all that matters.

It's not a new capability for the police.

Has nobody understood why the police are having to replace a unit?

Does nobody (except one or two) know the back story, or its implications?

So what's the back story/implications,Enoon?
