Has anyone else experienced this?

Seems that instead of showing 'sold out' for products, they just send the nearest resemblance to it that they have stock in, so that you never go through the effort of posting back

I still intend to use Lazada in the future, any tips how to avoid this?

I initiate a return, saying 'wrong product'.

Usually I get a refund and get to keep whatever they sent.

Bare in mind it isnt in most cases Lazada at all, (unless its a centrally stored logistics product) The actual seller does this as a better to send something than nothing scenario. I have had this a few times and the low money involved I would suggest most accept the replacement, so it works for them.

There are situations, I had one, where I complained and was given a refund and told to keep the item they sent. I forget what the threshold is but there did seem to be one.

Yeah. in the good old days 500 bht compo drop of a hat

I received an incorrect item yesterday. It was part of an order of three items, a multibuy discount promotion.

The items were sent in separate packages. The first package arrived, I opened it and used it. The second package arrived a few days later. It was missing an item, and an incorrect item. I tried to return it, but I have to return everything. I went to drop it off at Kerry, they wouldn't accept the return as it was not complete - it didn't have the third item. Which I never received. The seller is apologetic, but says he can't do anything.

I'm getting old. I don't need this. I'm buying from the shops in future.

I had an interesting one the other day from Lazada

I have been trying to purchase a toner cartridge for a Brother B&W printer and last year it was cancelled on the day of delivery.  This year a different vendor sent me an empty box with my 590 THB rounded up to 600 THB, with a note saying sorry "out of stock"

When is Lazada going to crack down on their vendors who advertise in stock as fiction ?

I guarantee you, a vendor for Amazon that is continually out of stock, won't be selling on Amazon for long

Agreed - this sounds like a far more plausible explanation to me than deliberate malice on Lazada's part.

Would there be a space on the order form where you could put "DO NOT SUBSTITTE. Cancel order if not in stock".

I don't know. I am still old style shopper with plans to continue,

But Malice against 'farangs' on Lazada's part plays far more comfortably into the mindset of the 'farang are not liked here' mindset of some...

Realistically, as Lacessit wrote, its just sheer incompetence.

We ordered socks for a 6 year old and were sent size 6 socks - No biggie, but highlights the incompetence at a basic level.

I ordered an iPad case for my Son: Payment taken, after two weeks no delivery. Then I get a cancellation and refund notice: OK no biggie, but had I known I could have ordered from another shop instead of waiting 2 weeks only to find out the online shop has no stock.

the wrong items i've received in the past are usually the ones they have high stock on, i'll notice something sold out everywhere in black colour, then get sent the product in pink

Haha ........ I had a pink bag sent in place of a black bag a year or so back.

I returned it for refund, pink just isn't my colour.

Lazada is a bit weird from what the wife told me.   Apparently once you have paid for the item the money goes to Lazada first before the seller gets some of it.  And the seller sends the item to a Lazada depot used for dispatch....before it's sent to you!

“My wife told me” stories rarely end well. - or accurately.

In 99% of cases no money is paid until goods are received. Of course the goods are sent to a depot.....it is called a distribution network.

Yes the option to pay COD is there buT the money still goes to Lazada who take their cut,  plus freight cost and 7 percent tax.  As an eBay seller I got the whole amount,  then I payed the freight and every month EBay billed me and I payed them. Lazada depot is the distribution centre run by Lazada....who they use to truck the item is  their choice, not yours as the seller.  I just thought it was a strange way of doing things after having been on eBay for many years and never having any major problems.

I think you are comparing apples and pears.

Ebay is for individual sellers.....Lazada, Amazon etc are not.

What?  They are all made up of independent sellers - and two other major players here are Alexpress and Shopee.
