Industry Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit

Industry Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit will propose to Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak the establishment of a national electric vehicle policy committee to steer development of the EV segment.

The minister expects the panel to get off the ground in the next three months.

It followed the suggestion of Thailand's Potential Development Network that the government hasten transition of the Thai auto industry to the EV era.

The network proposed that the government set up an agency to draw up an EV master plan and serve as the centre of coordination.

So,  is it lack of trust in the car makers to do the right thing or is it just another excuse to get shinny bumbs on a panel where they will be well paid?  I would have thought those who are (or will be) making EV's would be best placed to sort out the nuts and bolts.

I wonder if one of the agenda items will be;

"How do we replace the lost taxes from petroleum?"

This is something governments across the planet will wake up to soon.

I'm sure it will be as well implemented as the rollout for 3G/4G

There will be many different frequencies, each brand of car has to use the frequencies allotted to that brand and only that brand.. charging stations/frequencies will be auctioned to the highest bidder..after a few months the winners of the auction will realise they paid far to much and will never recoup the "investment"  they will then ask the government to buy back the

licence..people with EV's will then be offered cheap conversions to  Diesel,Petrol and LPG  :w00t:????
