Its shameful that her syndrome is being exploited. Its also shameful that no one has taken her to task for her hypocrisy for fear of being off message. Phuum
Let me contribute to this discussion by posting the findings of two Finnish researchers at Turku University on sunspot activity and cloud formation released this summer. https://arxiv.org/pdf/1907.00165.pdf " During the last hundred years the temperature is increased about 0.1°C because of CO2. The human contribution was about 0.01°C." So, since the industrial revolution humans are responsible for a temperature increase of 0.01 degrees on global average temperature. Now that's some food for thought for you climate alarmists out there! That beeing said, fossil fuels do pollute our environment (as do most burning) which is a cause for serious concern but that is a separate matter. This video is not biased propaganda - just a very enlightening interview with a scientist, who is truly an expert in his field. I highly recommend spending 23 minutes to watch it! Incredible 23 minutes. Nature is starting its adaptation. Count the times I've posted that Earth's environment is the most complex thing in the Universe. Why? Because it is created and maintained by living organisms controlled by DNA. One of the reasons that it's all settled science is rubbish. Freeman Dyson is not just offering opinions, he has been working on this for 30+ years. As a physicist he is a giant along with Einstein and Richard Feynman. When he says it's not settled and probably less than alarmist hype, I believe him.

I think governments around the world, who do accept the facts regarding climate change, are on board with your way of thinking (and mine). Action is required but not to the point of destroying civilisation as we know it. Renewable energy is a good example, we do need to move from relying on fossil fuels to renewable energy, not just because of the damage fossil fuels do to the planet but their supply will eventually be exhausted. I'm an advocate of nuclear energy, which releases virtually no CO2 into the atmosphere, and research into nuclear fusion, however Thunberg & co are totally opposed to this. I certainly don't agree with Greta's vision for combating climate change but do thank her for stimulating the debate.

And that includes the well known very liberal ones at NASA. no, that is drivel from start to finish, this is where the 97% claim stem from, it stem from an inability to conduct and extract statistics, the only data you can extract from this is to divide those who answered yes (75) with total responses (3146) for a consensus of 2%, and the other data you can extract is the bias of this pseudo scientist In 2008 Margaret Zimmerman asked two questions of 10,257 Earth Scientists at academic and government institutions. 3146 of them responded. That survey was the original basis for the famous “97% consensus” claim. For the calculation of the degree of consensus among experts in the Doran/Zimmerman article, all but 79 of the respondents were excluded. They wrote: “In our survey, the most specialized and knowledgeable respondents (with regard to climate change) are those who listed climate science as their area of expertise and who also have published more than 50% of their recent peer-reviewed papers on the subject of climate change (79 individuals in total). Of these specialists, 96.2% (76 of 79) answered “risen” to question 1 and 97.4% (75 of 77) answered yes to question 2.” The basis for the “97% consensus” claim is this excerpt: [of] “the most specialized and knowledgeable respondents (with regard to climate change)… 97.4% (75 of 77) answered yes to question 2.” Q1: “When compared with pre-1800s levels, do you think that mean global temperatures have generally risen, fallen, or remained relatively constant?” 76 of 79 (96.2%) answered “risen.” Q2: “Do you think human activity is a significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures?” 75 of 77 (97.4%) answered “yes.” Q1. When compared with pre-1800's levels, do you think that mean global temperatures have generally risen, fallen, or remained relatively constant? 1. Risen 2. Fallen 3. Remained relatively constant 4. No opinion/Don't know Q2. Do you think human activity is a significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures? [This question wasn’t asked if they answered “remained relatively constant” to Q1] 1. Yes 2. No 3. I'm not sure Q3. What do you consider to be the most compelling argument that supports your previous answer (or, for those who were unsure, why were they unsure)? [This question wasn’t asked if they answered “remained relatively constant” to Q1] Q4. Please estimate the percentage of your fellow geoscientists who think human activity is a contributing factor to global climate change. Q5. Which percentage of your papers published in peer-reviewed journals in the last 5 years have been on the subject of climate change? Q6. Age Q7. Gender Q8. What is the highest level of education you have attained? Q9. Which category best describes your area of expertise?
