Thai Embassy Vientiane

Featured Replies

Hi

Anyone had recent experience with getting a SETV (with several already in passport, from various Thai Embassy/Consulates)?

Do they ask for a copy of your entry stamp/visa into Laos (I had a memory of reading something about this)?

Do they request anything in addition to:-

  • a Copy of the Passport details
  • 2 Photos
  • Application form
  • Recent Bank Statement (B20,000)

Thanks

Looks like robot post. Impeccable.

With "several already in passport", thinking you would have vague idea.

Vientiane has become strict about issuing tourist visas to those with prior tourist entries to Thailand, especially if they are recent. If you have spent the bulk of the last six months in Thailand, and your passport reveals this, I would discourage you from even trying in Vientiane. In Savannakhet, they are even stricter in case you are wondering.

Yes, you ALWAYS have to show the entry stamp, whatever country you go to.

Maybe a bank statement or 20k cash

"several"... if that means 2-3, you should start worrying and they probably ask proof of accommodation or a flight out of Thailand and some money on the bank.

If more than 3, forget it and pack your bags before you go

How many days have you stayed in Thailand for the last 6 months. That seems to be more important than the number of visas you have had before. More than 90 days seems to the limit if they are looking for a reason for denial.

you said several visas... well.. 50-50

I think nobody will be able to give you a definite answer. Some people reported that they were interviewed due to their history. In case that happens, it all depends on convincing the consular officer that you are a genuine tourist - being able to show how you can support yourself seems to help in that case. In other words, funds well in excess of the minimum in a bank account back home, proof of money transfers to Thailand, etc.

They could also just reject your application based on the visas already in your passport, and if that happens, there's probably nothing you can do.
