But somehow 62 million Americans think Trump is the most qualified.

No, they don't. They just dislike the Dems enough, IMO, to vote to stop them becoming president. Anything was better than her, and so far the Dems haven't come up with anything better for next year.

Anything with a brain is better than Trump

They have the choice who voting for someone that shares their ideology and sometimes says and does vulgar things they do not approve or voting for someone that despises their ideology,

No, they have many more choices. Trump is where he is because the GOP members voted for him to be the GOP candidate to president. They could have elected lots of other people.

And currently one choice is to get rid of Trump and get Pence.

I would have thought Mike Pence is nearer to what Christians would describe as a good man.

Whats wrong with bashing people who believe in fairy tales.

Do you believe Christian politicians believe in fairytales or just pretend to believe in fairytales to get votes?

Which do you think is the bigger hypocrite, a person that believes in fairytales voting for someone that believes in fairytales, or someone that does not believe in fairytales voting for someone who does?

I would be happy to bet everything I own that Trump does not know the ten commandments and has never read them.He would have broken at least half the commandments and will probably cover the rest in the next few years. God will not bless him as he does not know how to repent or change his evil ways.

But the magazine's president, Timothy Dalrymple, wrote in the editorial, headlined "The Flag in the Whirlwind," that evangelicals' embrace of Trump means being tied to his "rampant immorality, greed, and corruption; his divisiveness and race-baiting; his cruelty and hostility to immigrants and refugees."

Tick, tick, tick...

When I said they, I was referring to evangelicals, and and their choice in the next election, not the last one.

In the last election the press started out loving Trump and found out too late he was a problem. But to be clear, I believe evangelicals would have voted for most any of the Republicans over Hillary Clinton.

Yes, I think most Christians believe Pence to be a good man, but I think they’re smarter than most people give them credit for, and many of them realize that if Trump is ejected from office, the focus will just shift to impeaching Pense.

Since the election I rarely see anything negative about Pense in the news. I assume they’re saving everything they have to start hammering on him in the event he somehow gets into office.

Worth watching, thanks. I would say Hitch is going rather easy on the vile conman.

Reading this whole thread is - in the case of many contributions- like looking in on a tragic primitive twisted world. It can still come as a shock to civilised northern Europeans that people like the US evangelicals still exist in the 21th century. It is a lot like reading about rabid mobs in Pakistan demanding that blasphemers are put to death. Such KKK like events no longer happen I read, but the mentality is the same. Is there no education system in the Evangelical rectum of the US.

All the same I do wish you all merry Yuletide,

(and may the bird of paradise fly up your nose.)

That's the second time you've mentioned an absolutely fake phenomenon. There is no such thing as "post-birth abortion."

If any doctor were to kill a baby that had been born alive, that would be murder and it would be prosecuted as such. However it just doesn't happen - it's a total myth.

As the article on the link below points out:

Quote

Infants are rarely born alive after abortion procedures, and if they are, doctors do not kill them.

Far as I can see, American evangelicals care more about abortion than the morality of the POTUS.

They certainly ain't, IMO, going to stay home and allow an pro abortionist to rule the country, which is what any Dems candidate is probably going to be.

Nobody is ‘Pro Abortion’.

Away with your nonsense.

You’re probably right.

Right fellas? (wink-wink-nudge-nudge)

I have no idea what evangelicals believe, I’m sure there are as many variations in their beliefs as there’s are Evangelicals.

I do however have a direct insight into your own beliefs.

You wrote them in the comment box and hit post.

Religion is the place holder for understanding. When religion is throw out before gaining understanding, you get liberals.

Proof: When one attains understanding, one understands this and thus sees no need to hate religion or those who follow it.

nearer to what the gushing American 'don't think' christians would call a good man, if he was a good man he would have resigned by now rather than serve under 'the chosen one'

Makes no difference if it’s true or not does it? It only matters that people believe it.

what's to dislike about liberal people, look up the word in the dictionary, it's the same as tolerance, something I'm sure that Jesus would agree with. Communist doctrine:- 'From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs' not a bad basis for a society but like christianity it has never been put into practice, even the Soviet socialist republic never pretended to be communist and they weren't even socialist, it was just a dictatorship, the West has a sort of democracy but it's real basis is dictatorship from capital.

depending on the circumstance, if your daughter or wife was raped and became pregnant wouldn't you be in favour? if a girl became pregnant through incest and she wanted an abortion you would disagree? If a woman was told that her unborn child had a terrible deformity you would refuse her an abortion? What about poverty? do you think that the pope would financially support a poor family in order for them to have the child (starvation isn't very nice apparently). I don't think that 'go forth and multiply' meant switching off your brain, the world is already overpopulated, if you followed the instructions of the bible mankind would be finished, no need for a second coming there would be no one left to greet him.

People often confuse liberalism with leftism. Nothing wrong with liberals except that have not disassociated themselves from the left, yet.

Decent economic management is the best thing that any government can provide.   All the other social niceties are a function of having a steong and healthy economy.

sure, President Trump is full of himself and his social skills could use some work.   Yet his predecessor was a great orator, but incompetent.   Any rational thinking  person will chose good economic management.

By my count he’s broken at least eight of them -- 80 percent. (Not sure if he’s murdered anyone; and I can’t say whether he “honors” his mother and father or not.) And some, he’s taken even further. For instance, not only does he covet his neighbor’s wife; he covets his own daughter.
