KHOA LAK, THAILAND: Sitting at my resort in Phang Nga province in Southern Thailand a few weeks ago, I was quietly having my breakfast and my thoughts turn to the tragic events 15 years earlier. I was staying at a resort that was badly hit by the devastating 2004 tsunami. The resort was flattened by the huge 15-metre high wave that made landfall all along the beaches of Khao Lak.

Properties rented out for residential purposes subject to lower tax rate, ministries confirm

Homes or condominium units put up for rent as residential property will not be subject to the higher tax rate applied on rental properties for commercial use but will be charged at the lower tax rate applied to residential properties.

 

The Finance and Interior ministries have agreed to relax tax rules on home and condominiums units rented out by their owners as residential property.

Fare of MRT Purple Line to be set at a maximum Bt20

The Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) governor Pakapong Sirikantaramas said on Wednesday (December 25) that the Cabinet has approved the Ministry of Transport’s proposal to reduce the fare of Metropolitan Rapid Transit Chalong Ratchadham Line (MRT Purple Line) from Bt14-Bt42 to Bt14-Bt20.
