Do we turn into our dads?

Featured Replies

My dad was about 10 at the end of WW1 , he was in the Home Guard during WW2 ,  all he wanted was peace and quiet.   So not like me in any way shape or form , but different times change folk.

I am a lot like my dad for sure, but he's the better man.

  • I was a pro musician from 1970 until 2008, played all over the world. My two sons, 31 & 27 (I know silly names ! ) are both working in Dubai as singers/guitarists/ drummers. So yes, kids hopefully

  • The best thing my dad gave was a great work ethic. It has stood me in good stead all my life.

Respect your ELDERS. they Have and Done more than YOU have. Just try to not make the same MISTAKES

That's why I never had children, I didn't want to take the chance of being the kind of a parent like I had. I wouldn't wish that on any child.

I had such a defective childhood that I just didn't want any child to suffer that fate. I didn't realise that some children actually have brilliant childhoods till much later in life. I thought happy childhoods were just in books, like the Swallows and Amazons series.

Didn't change my mind when almost every family I knew treated their children less well than they should have. My first partner didn't treat her children badly, but she preferred her career to them, and I ended up being more of a parent to them than she was. Didn't make me want to go out and create some of my own though.

My father married the wrong woman first time around, but had great children. I followed in his foot steps.

Yes.

Possibly worse..as he could carve and rig wonderful model sailing yachts which he gave to us and other kids in the street as presents.

Those little ships sure gave a lot of joy at the local swimming hole.
