It couldn't possibly happen of course and I am probably dreaming ! " what we lost in the fire we found in the ashes"

Chomper Higgot
Trump has now cornered himself, he’s threatened a response to any Iranian retaliation, his threats include acts that if committed would be war crimes. Iran have retaliated so now Trump must respond. He might also feel this is a time for him to step up and explain to the nation why y exactly he has chosen to take the course of action that has led the US to the brink of war. Then again he may choose not to face the nation.

And he hasn't walked back his threat to refuse to leave Iraq until the Iraqis pay the US back for air bases and such. I'm sure US troops on the ground there are very grateful to Trump for further enraging the locals.
GalaxyMan
Some interesting information... Iran has five workers of prime-age (25-64 years) for every citizen over 65. By 2050 the ratio will crash to just 1.8 working-age Iranians per retiree, assuming constant fertility. Iran’s economy will crash. Its pension systems already are bankrupt. The September attack on Aramco facilities in Saudi Arabia exposed the weakness of US air defenses. The Patriot anti-missile system can’t shoot anything flying lower than 60 meters, and Iran has low-flying cruise missiles. Two dozen missiles or bombing sorties could wipe out Iran’s economy in a matter of hours. Fewer than a dozen power plants generate 60% of Iran’s electricity, and eight refineries produce 80% of its distillates. A single missile strike could disable each of these facilities, and bunker-buster bombs of the kind that Israel used last month in Lebanon would entirely destroy them. Without much effort, the US could destroy the Port of Kharg from which Iran exports 90% of its hydrocarbons. IMHO: Based upon Iran’s response (rather pathetic, if you ask me), firing a dozen or so missiles at a base in Iraq that houses US troops, they really don’t have a capable military response available to them. It remains to be seen if Iran is really willing to commit suicide and thereby being reduced to a stone-age society for quite a while by provoking Trump with more than the mosquito-like pin-p.r.i.c.k. their missiles represented. I’d bet anything that John Bolton had a wet dream when Suleimani was taken out. ???? Edited January 8, 2020 by GalaxyMan 2 1

Trumps done shooting for now. His response to this one will be to cut off access to the US banking system for any country that does business with Iran. That will stir up some angst. Keep them on their toes Don.

Popular Post RickBradford
And the Western media keeps up its devotional genuflection for this killer. The New Yorker falls into line with the Iranian press by calling his killing "an act of war", and then continue their eulogy: "Suleimani, a flamboyant former construction worker and bodybuilder with snowy white hair, a dapper beard, and arching salt-and-pepper eyebrows, gained notice during the eight-year war with Iraq .. He was the most feared and most admired military leader in the region." They talk about him as though he had just been plucked from obscurity to play 007. 1 1
