Hello. I will be visting soon for about 30 days, and I have to keep in touch with work on a daily basis via email as well as loading files (relatively small, txt files) via FTP. I use a Mac for most of the work. I haven't had a new Mac notebook for years and years so I think I will purchase a brand new one before I leave.

Wondering what I can expect in terms of internet connection. I will be staying part-time with family and I believe they have a landline (phone). I can buy whatever it takes in terms of wireless internet cards or whatever. Most of the time I will be in various hotels, and I know most of those have computer rental stations but I will need to use my own machine. Since I have never done this before in Thailand I am hoping some experts here can provide some advice. Thanks!

Most hotels/starbucks have free wifi. If not GPRS over a bluetooth enabled mobile phone works well with the macbook & pro.

Starbucks wifi is not free. It's actually expensive.

However, Stickman's site has a useful list of free wifi sites that you can peruse.
