Hi,

After working in Thailand for 12 years, I have decided to move back to Canada.

Question: I will cancel my work permit(expires Jan 7 th ) tomorrow; and have a Non Imm. visa tied to the work permit which

expires on January 22, 2020. I know the visa is good for 7 days. Does the visa cancel in the computers ? Or is a problem ?

I need some more time to organize personal things for a few months. Can I do a run to Cambodia with one of the Border run companies.

Any company names and phone numbers. I have used for 10 years. After those 30 days I would like to fly to Malaysia for a 60 day visa, then go

back to Canada. What do I need for the 30 day visa besides passport and pictures. How much money do I need to bring. I have two bank

books with over 2 million baht. Bring or not.

thanks

I assume you have an extension of stay based upon working not a 90 day entry from a non-b visa.

Most border run companies will not take you if you still have a valid extension of stay.

It would best to formally cancel your extension at the immigration office that issued it. You will need a termination letter from your employer stating you last day of work. Immigration will post date the cancelation to the date on the letter if you go few days before that date.

If you to Cambodia you need one photo for visa on arrival application.

You would only need 10k baht in cash if asked for it when entering the country visa exempt.

You could extend the 30 day visa exempt entry for 30 days at immigration for a fee of 1900 baht.

Hi Ubonjoe, Yes, visa based on working but I have to report every 90 days, or travel outside of Thailand. Thanks for the help.

You have 7 days to leave the country, only if you got the extension of stay at the One-Stop Service Center (BOI).

Otherwise, you need to leave on the same day as the cancellation of the extension of stay.

You can apply for a 7 day extension though I think.

Hi Ubonjoe, Yes, visa based on working

If you read what he said, it appears you have an extension of stay, not a visa. An extension of stay ends when the reason for it ends, employment in your case. If you had a valid, unexpired visa, it would remain valid until it expires.

I left Thailand in 2001 after 12 years of working there.  Best decision I ever made.  Times have changed so take this for what it's worth.  I turned my WP into the company and let the secretary who handles this figure out how to do it.  My visa still had about a month left on it as did the WP.  Yes, technically you only have 7 days on the visa after you turn in the WP but at the time the Labour dept and immigration were not in synch with each other.  The secretary wanted me to go with her to turn it in but I let her know it wasn't my problem.  Been back to Thailand many times since then but not to work.  Have never had an issue entering or exiting the Kingdom.
