Thailand’s FM Don in hot water over claim of US tipoff about Baghdad drone attack

Thailand’s Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai has come under heavy criticism for his public claim on Tuesday that the United States had informed Thailand in advance about the drone attack that killed General Qasem Soleimani, Iranian commander of the elite Quds force, at Baghdad airport on January 3rd.

United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) chairman Jatuporn Promphan said today he wondered what good will come from Mr. Don’s statement. He said, as Foreign Minister, he should step down because the situation is highly sensitive and Thailand has no place getting involved in the US-Iran issue.

He quoted the Shiite Muslim leader in Thailand, who had described Mr. Don’s statement was “unwise” and who also doubted the Foreign Minister’s claim about advance US Military tactical intelligence, when the information had been withheld from both the UK government and the entire US Congress. Jatuporn said he would wait to see how Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha deals with the Foreign Minister, noting that the inappropriate remark could unnecessarily risk Thailand being dragged into the conflict.

Blabbermouth, did he really had to go and divulge such sensitive information? for what purpose and what gains? he would tell you how much money he's got in the bank would he? than why putting Thailand in an awkward situation giving the fact that Thailand relies of Shia dominated countries for tourism and trades?...

They've got the tanks, attack helicopters and the Stryker APC's, now if only they could speed up delivery of the Chinese submarines, they're right to go!

Just puffing up his feathers to make himself look important and as though he's somehow "in-the-loop"

it won't drag Thailand into anything as no-ones interested in this little arid land.

But the problem is if you start to shout your mouth off someone will hear you, and you might get a response from Mr T.
Unfavourable sanctions and at the moment a whisker away from being on a certain watch-list.

Now's the time to stay quiet.

I cannot imagine why TH would have been given any info on this.

Unless there was an attempt at International agreement/support before the attack, and all those State leaders who say they knew nothing about it in advance......are lying?

That might mean there was "anonymous" support.

Or it might mean that everyone said, anonymously, "**** ***".

Or something in between.

Very unlikely that the U.S would tell anything in advance to a corrupt country like Thailand..

????

Unless Trump was "scraping the barrel" for International approval/support.

Which he may well have been.

It's "any port in a storm" for the desperate sociopath.

First major headache would be Navigating their way out of Port !

Second major headache: Locating Baghdad on a world map.

Third: Finding out the hard way that the Tigris is is too shallow to be navigated by sophisticated Thai submarines.
