Upper Thailand gets cooler, some rains forecast for lower regions

The Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Monday (January 13) that the westerly trough at high altitude still blows cold air from the Himalayas to the North of Thailand while the weak high-pressure system covers upper Thailand and South China Sea.

Off-season rice crop in 22 provinces threatened by drought

Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Chalermchai Sri-on has expressed concern that rice farmers in 22 provinces around Chao Phraya River basin might not have enough water for off-season rice paddy of over 2.25 million rai that they already started growing.

Suspected bovine foot and mouth disease outbreak in Saraburi

Dairy farmers from Muak Lek district, in Thailand’s central province of Saraburi, are due to petition Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and Agriculture Minister Chalermchai Sri-on today to seek urgent help after more than 70 dairy cows have died from, and over 1,700 others have become infected with suspected foot and mouth disease.

Police: 14,178 took part in ‘Run Against Dictatorship’

Italian-Thai Development President Premchai Karnasuta submitted a request to the Thong Pha Phum Provincial Court in Kanchanaburi province on Monday(January 13), seeking the removal of an electronic monitoring anklet he was ordered to wear as part of the conditions of his bail.

Thai investment applications top $25 billion in 2019

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Investment applications in Thailand reached a total 756 billion baht ($25.07 billion) worth of projects in 2019, down about 16% from the previous year but slightly beating a target, the state investment agency said on Monday.
