Testing Your Testosterone Levels

Featured Replies

I am thinking of getting Testosterone Level test done at my next annual check up (never done before).

For a male 60+ which test would be useful? The Free Testosterone or the Total Testosterone test?

Thank you.

What really matters is how much free(freely available, unbound) testosterone you have. The total doesn't really matter because much of that is chemically bound, therefore not available for use.

On a side note I wouldn't bother with a test. It's just going to show that your test levels are low. Then what? Most men have very low testosterone levels nowadays regardless of age because of how they live.

Just do these things:

No alcohol/no smoke: just doing this will already raise T levels.

No junk/no meat: the more raw and fresh stuff you eat, the higher the testosterone levels.

A diet higher in fat: higher dietary fat consumption increases testosterone levels.

Cold showers: exposure to cold increases testosterone levels. There's a reason why athletes do it.

Daily exercise and anything that's intense physical work: shoots up testosterone levels. That's why you feel better after a good session of any demanding physical work.

Doing anything that brings the feeling of accomplishment: increases testosterone output.

Anything that's mind numbing, useless and boring as an activity lowers test levels.
