(Coronavirus ) How many airlines do thermal-screening of passengers before boarding

In December/January there will always be passengers from Europe with a cold and they might even sneeze or cough. Are these unusual symptoms? Will the airline/airport deny entry to get onboard? A person affected with the Coronavirus will also cough and have a fever. It was the same 2002 with the SARS outbreak, people at the airports stood there in face masks checking people for symptoms.

Have the airport authorities and other local agencies followed up and checked the condition of other passengers who shared flights with the 5 people who arrived in Bangkok?

It could take up to 2 weeks for them to show symptoms. The clock is ticking. My guess is that a lot of other people in Thailand have already been infected and this will slowly evolve into more and more cases in the next 7-14 days.

I was involved with the thermal screening for SARS in Melbourne and it does not work because it can take up to 2 weeks before any symptoms show which includes a rise in the body temperature which is all the thermal screening reads and anyone who has a simple thing like even a headache will have an increased body temperature whilst a person in the incubation period of a virus will not have a raised temperature so screening will not pick them up. It is too late for this type of action. This virus has spread like all other viruses and what is needed now is for the time and effort to be put in to treat those that are infected. No one knows when the first person that was infected was, it could have been 6 months ago because it has not been until there have been deaths that anyone has taken any notice of it. There are strong, healthy people who have had this virus and have not even seen a doctor so how long ago was the very first person infected with this virus and how many people has this been transferred to in the beginning and have traveled out of China before it was diagnosed. Sorry, but it is too late to close borders or to do things like thermal screening.

Correct... Also.. the use of masks is highly risky as they tend to build up moist and are more dangerous than good. At least some doctors say so.

Agree with your post accept for the last sentence .  Would it not make sense to close all borders and international flights for infected countries ?  This event is still young , or so we are told , and if so containment then control has to be the way to go , or not ?

One problem with your thinking. This virus is already in many countries around the world so you would have to close every border of every country or your system would not work. To close every border of every country would involve all airlines grounded and all shipping stopped and all cross border transport of goods stopped. Sorry but you would kill more people with starvation because even the food chain would have to stop. No body knows how old this event is because nobody knows who or when the very first person to contract this virus is, they could have contracted this virus 6 months ago and traveled to many countries since then and only been treated for the common flu symptoms and been cured. Not everyone that has contracted this virus has died. The virus itself is not the killer it is the complications from the virus the causes the problems like all flu related viruses.
