Wirachai Songmetta

Pol Lt Col Wirachai Songmetta, the deputy national police chief, was dismissed on Friday (January 24), accused of “generating a negative image for the Royal Thai Police” though his behaviour and actions.

Police spokesman Krissana Pattanacharoen said the order of dismissal was signed by the Office of the Prime Minister on Thursday.

A commission has been established to investigate public complaints about the police, he noted.

Two deputy national police chiefs were abruptly transferred on Thursday in a surprise reshuffle that has shaken Thailand’s police service.

Pol Col Krisana Pattanacharoen, deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Police, today confirmed reports on social media about the sudden transfer of Pol Gen Veerachai Songmetta, the deputy national police chief, to the Prime Minister’s Office, effective as of Wednesday, by an order of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

According to the transfer order, Pol Gen Veerachai was accused by the Royal Thai Police of conduct deemed to negatively affect the public’s confidence in the performance of the duty to uphold justice and the image of the Royal Thai Police, causing damage to the police force.

As subtle as a kick in the balls. The reasoning is obviously bogus as any Thai of any intelligence level knows that the RTP are mud.

A few decent coppers aside, the disgraceful M.O is common knowledge. High profile purges like this will pretty much guaranteed to be related to some of the murkier stuff the organization are engaged in.

Generating a negative image for the R.T.P. :cheesy:????????️‍♂️:cheesy:????

What they actually mean is.... The man did not divvy up the proceeds, but kept it for himself.

How is being transferred to an inactive post with full salary still being paid even remotely resemble being axed? Except for the slight loss of face, these two guys are living out their best case scenario.

Loss of face is immaterial, loss of revenue, that will hurt him!

Since one of the two is going to the PM's office at least temporarily, it sounds more like he might be sharing a neighboring desk with that of BJ -- assuming that either of them actually show up to work every day...

Which is the larger number these days?

The number of Chinese Wuhan flu cases, or the number of Thailand deputy national police chiefs???

Another pair of murky Thai police personnel actions that likely will never be publicly explained or justified -- just the same as occurred with BJ.  The new trend, apparently.

The base salary isn’t that great. It’s the brown envelopes where you really make your money. And now that’s over for him.

My guess is that Pol Gen Chakthip did not want Pol Gen Veerachai Songmetta investigating this to the benefit of Pol Lt-Gen Surachet Hakparnhttps://www.thaipbsworld.com/police-probe-shooting-of-ex-immigration-chiefs-car-in-bangkok/

So his answer was to sack him. After all, if the investigation led back to the police, it would be to their detriment. Just a guess and in no way an allegation...

Who's at fault for generating this negative image ? In those circles its often reporting or investigating something bad that's considered worse than actually doing the bad stuff

What  image?

So he was not sacked, he was shuffled sideways, with salary, entitlements, acrrued wealth, just has to sign less papers and not do photoshoots for a few months.

Then rehabilitated and back to a higher rank and salary.

They must've done the ultimate blunder: stood between somebody's profits. Sugary profits perhaps.

It must be getting close to the annual promotion time. This is one way of eliminating potential competition. Big question is; Who is supposed to benefit from this "Game of Thrones" move?

Totally agree the headlines means they were sacked , truth is they are moved to an inactive post and still get paid. More BS reporting.

Pol Gen Veerachai, however, remains employed by the RTP and is entitled to remuneration from the force.

Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, the national police chief, also signed an order on Thursday transferring Pol Gen Chaiwat Kateworachai, the deputy national police chief, to an inactive post in the Royal Thai Police’s Operations Centre, otherwise known as the “graveyard” for officers who fall out of favour with their boss.

Western cops ?? Australia has some choice specimens, both retired and still in the forces, that would suit very well with the RTP

Why don,t you apply then, but leave the sour grapes off the CV!

I shot the sheriff but I did not shoot the deputy   Eric Clapton

Sounds like this is all related to the PM telling BJ to shut his mouth or else the other day as the embezzlers try to out jostle themselves and cover up ????

The PM must have a serious number of people in his office by now ... how big is it???
