Thai PM falls sick, but it’s not coronavirus

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has cancelled all this appointments and activities today (Thursday) because of sickness. He has been advised by his doctor to rest at the official guest house in the compound of the First Infantry Regiment of the Royal Guards.

Informed sources say that he has been ill for the past 4-5 days and has been on medication prescribed by his doctor, but his condition has worsened today, with high fever and fatigue.

The sources also said that the Prime Minister lacked sufficient rest, because he has to handle several official activities each day, especially overseeing measures to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus in the country, including an inspection trip to Suvarnabhumi international airport on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister’s condition is not related to that inspection trip, said the sources, adding that, if his condition improves, he may be back to work tomorrow. For now, he is under medical observation.

  • No way will they admit he has corona virus, even if he has. He said it was 100% under control, now if he has caught it, it will make him look a bigger plonker than normal.

  • Should that be considered good news or bad?   Answers on a postcard please

  • And by the public .............. to give it a rest.

How, if it takes so many days to test suspected cases, does he get tested so fast?

In other words, they can test quickly, right?

It can take up to 6 days to test positive once you start showing symptoms.

Surely there are quaified medical personel who are well versed in infection control, who understand the science, and are better able to take control of this health matter, rather than former army person?

I was under the impression that good leaders delegate to best qualified person and receive updates and briefings.

You misunderstand the nature of politics. Everything is political, and politicians need to be seen to be in control. Experts are merely bit players

That is quite an achievement given the standard plonking level he's established.

nobody knows

reporting corona virus numbers is suspended, so maybe yes - or maybe no (lucky I mean)

Well, one good thing can come out of this. With his delegation of authority, something might actually get done around here!

perhaps, just perhaps we are lucky after all ????

I tried to explain what a virus is to my wife and that they are actually not really alive, just microscopic biological robots which insert DNA and she wouldn't believe me.

Couldn't be!

Everything in Thailand is fine and dandy, virus is 100% under control!

Here is a less complicated one for you ????

Virus | Definition of Virus by Merriam-Webster

Virus definition is - any of a large group of submicroscopic infectious agents that are usually regarded as nonliving extremely complex molecules, that typically contain a protein coat surrounding an RNA or DNA core of genetic material but no semipermeable membrane, that are capable of growth and multiplication only in living cells, and that cause various important diseases in humans, animals

Wasn't he telling people a couple of days ago to harden up ? And fit guys like himself don't get sick

This is Thailand, the people in authority didn't get there on their merits, they got there on the back of the people they knew, the family they were born into, and the amount of cash that they have. Actually, that sounds a lot like the UK.

If it actually IS, you can pretty much bet the government would never acknowledge it publicly... Not with Mr. 100% Under Control in charge.

If I look at the masks they all use on the photo all I can do is to hope the best for him. All of these masks provide only limited protection against the virus.
