When can we expect clean air in Hua Hin?

Yes, we are out to the sea but the wind blow from the other side and Hua Hin seems to be one of the most polluted areas in Thailand. Us with lung disease we have a problem here.

sorry to learn about your lung problems.

Indeed, there are several solutions to overcome this problem, but, as you will surely understand, the effect will not be immediate.

1 / leave cars, motorcycles in the garage.
Walking and cycling are excellent for health and the atmosphere.

2 / if not possible, take only public transport, such as taxis, tuk-tuk, song-taew, motorcycles, tricycles.
This will already decrease the pollution.

3 / only leave between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.

4 / go to the town hall and ask that the next city council put the city in the pedestrian zone, except for public transport, emergencies (firefighters, doctors, police)

5 / if everything has failed, change town.

Come on, you have to believe it.

when i moved to Hua Hin in March of 2014 one of the first things I noticed was the grey light brown haze that was hanging over the city.

when the wind is blowing from the north northwest, we get the air pollution from China, Myanmar and north Thailand.

Last week we had a wonderful and very strong on shore breeze from the south southeast that cleared the skies for about 48 hours. Walking on the beach was amazing.

Looking out the window now I see a slight flat gray haze but not as bad as some days.

The rainy season after May 1st seems to help with the air. You will start to see thunderheads building over the mountains to the west. But Hua Hin has one of the lowest rain falls in Thailand.

Try to live as close to the beach as possible or up on a hillside. Cha Am has cheap places very near the beach.

The other solution is to get air purifiers for your bedroom.

riding around on a scooter, bicycle or baht bus is really problematic as you get a face full of exhaust.
