The United Kingdom is the number one destination for Thai higher education students, representing 6,785 or 43 per cent of the total Thai students choosing to study abroad, with the top five subjects being business and management, engineering and technology, social studies, law, and creative arts and design, the British Council said today (February 4).

BANGKOK (Reuters) - A plane brought 138 Thais home from China's coronavirus epicentre of Wuhan on Tuesday and they waved from evacuation buses as they headed off to two weeks in quarantine to ensure they are free from the disease.

A chartered flight with 138 Thais evacuated from the Chinese city of Wuhan has landed at U-Tapao international airport in Rayong on Tuesday night. Three others, two students found to have fevers and one who had overstayed his visa in China, had to remain in Wuhan.

Cabinet imposes controls on masks, synthetic yarn for masks and sanitizers

The cabinet has endorsed the Commerce Ministry’s proposal to add face masks, the synthetic yarn used to produce them, sanitizers and the import of scrap and recycled paper to the list of controlled products, the production, distribution, import and export of which are now subject to control by the Internal Trade Department.

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China's civil aviation authority has urged domestic carriers to continue flying international routes as they consider cuts in response to a drop in demand due to the coronavirus outbreak, state news agency Xinhua reported on Tuesday.

BEIJING (Reuters) - The death toll from a coronavirus outbreak in China passed 490 on Wednesday, as two U.S. airlines suspended flights to Hong Kong following the first fatality there and 10 cases were confirmed on a quarantined Japanese cruise ship.

Four Thai evacuees from Wuhan kept in hospital for observation

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has updated the situation after Thai people has arrived from Wuhan

 

Four of the 138 Thai citizens evacuated from the Chinese city of Wuhan on Tuesday night were found to have a fever. They have been isolated and taken to the hospital at the Royal Thai Navy’s Sattahip base for observation, in accordance with infectious disease protocols.
