1-year ED Visas

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Considering all the challenges with Thai immigration and getting visas, I wanted to throw this out for comment.

I recently overheard someone talk about an “alternative” way to secure an ED Visa. A local law firm with connections at immigration can secure “special” 1-year ED Visas for 75k baht and do not require the recipient to attend a language school.

Has anyone heard of anything like this? Are these things common and do these workarounds actually secure valid/official visa stamps on the passports? What risks are people taking when they use these alternative approaches and receive visas under these circumstances? Do immigration officers question people (when one arrives at the airport or border) and ask what school they go to and people don't have a school name in mind?

I think people need to know what they’re getting into. Interested if anyone has heard about this.

Thank you.
