There has always been discussions about whether or not Thai women prefer farang or Thai men.   If two men were roughly equal in their wealth and social status, which do you believe Thai women would prefer?

Think Thai ladies may go for a farang for a few of reasons.

 

1. Fed up with being ignored, deserted and left bringing up kids on their own with no social security, so try something different.

2. Financially a more stable life.

3. All hansum like me..????

 

Obviously most Thai women would chose a Thai. Otherwise we all would have lots of Thai women competing to capture us all the time.

 

And I am sure most Thai women do the right thing when they chose Thai men. Because they grew up in the same country with the same culture and understand each other (more or less).

 

Farang-Thai relations are obviously possible. But they "work" often very different from Thai/Thai relations.

 

And obviously all that was discussed here many many times.

Sometimes I wish I were Thai, I'm sure I'd be like

an old Soi dog.

Most women prefer someone who they can talk to in their native language.  I don't think Thai women are any different to women from any other country.

Both... and everybody knows the reasons

They prefer no man at all only a big amount in their bank account...

After a certain age many Thai women prefer foreigners, due to a combination of being badly let down by Thai men, and the perception that foreigners are less fussy about age and existing kids. We are considered to be undiscerning and relatively easy to manipulate.

The categories of foreigners they prefer are farangs or Asians from more advanced countries such as Japan and Korea. They are not so keen on Indians, Africans, and Arabs.

All things being equal, however, the vast majority of Thai women would prefer a solvent, generous Thai man who treats them as well as a typical farang would, and who is willing to stick around long term, not cheat, not beat them etc.

There's another factor in this. Many Thai women would like to have offspring with caucasian males. These children can do very well in Thailand and many become famous (in Thailand). A lot of the movie stars and TV personalities are 50/50. Of course they don't need to marry the guy to get children.

And it seems many of those women live in fantasy world.

 

I heard that about lots of women in the villages up country. Most never had a relation with a foreigner but somehow they think: Marry a foreigner, he will give you lots of money and we will all live happily every after. Yeah, sure, dream on.

Too many on Tvisa trapped in the Old man/young Thai girl mentality need to think outside the box

 

Put a fit young 'farang' teenager, a fit young Thai guy, and a fit young Korean guy in the frame for a Thai teenage girl to choose - my guess it would be a close run thing but currently due to K pop popularity the Korean guy might just come out ahead  

 

Fast forward to say 28 years old, now Ms Thai is working to earn a living, a little more aware of the way life works, Mr K pop has lost his teenage looks and is off the agenda, Mr Thai has shown a relaxed Thai attitude to taking care of his women and his once attractive 'bad boy' image is wearing thin, Mr 'farang' is still displaying a dedication to monogamy, probably a solid reliable Mr Thai becomes number one choice but Mr 'farang' is certainly not far behind and a major consideration

 

Thai girl becomes Thai lady of 38 possibly with children by now absent father, life has crushed the the dream of Mr K pop, it was after all just a dream, good Thai men who want to marry are usually married before 38, farang at 40 - 60 who has looked after himself becomes an attractive option, the Thai teenager has transformed from a lusting K pop fan, passing through the like Thai 'badboy' stage into 'looking for security and someone to take care ' lady

 

There you have it, we all have our place, maybe not always the number one choice but always in with a fighting chance of success. Perhaps more in the correct age target area, but still always possible to find a young Thai lady that has fast forwarded to the 38 years old thinking, with a little input from friends and family ???? while still lusting after Mr K pop

The year lee Iacoca turned around Chrysler he was voted sexiest man alive... but by looks alone if he were wearing a hard hat on the production line, I bet he couldn't have gotten a date on Saturday night.. 

 

money & success & smarts & competence & confidence can be sexy too... 

Mrs Rumak here.  Of course you know we all are different.  Men and women.  But do many men like younger attractive women?   Sure.    Do many women like men with money ?  Sure.

Are the people that choose someone to stay with for one of those reasons likely to stay happy and content?   I do not think so.  

I love Rumak because when I met him my heart went  boom boom boom.  Really.  I not lie.

Not the boom boom you think i mean.   The boom boom that stays strong every day we are together.  Most my friends from work before not really want farang .  But from my village sure some met Farang after Thai husband not work out .  Real love?     But tell you the truth, 90% of couples married in my village not have happy lives.   How many of you happy ?   If you have money.  Or you have lots of sex.  Or you have big house.   

I think very few people find good partner.   Have to be right match .  Thai or farang not matter.

But real feeling boom boom in heart.   I sure you all had it once.  Why it not last ?

I voted that Thai women prefer Thai guys, but I completely agree with BritManToo's post above - Thai women are all about hypergamy - they marry up and have one or several 'gigs' on the side. Hypergamy is probably Thai women's defining characteristic - it cuts across all age groups and socioeconomic divides - if they think they can get a better deal elsewhere, they'll monkeybranch to the next dude faster than you can say 'free house', they just do it less as they age as their sexual market value decreases, limiting their options.

I am not denying that may well be your experience - maybe others have a little more to offer? am I mistaken, or are there actually some farangs who are managing to miss out on sex in Thailand due to your 'absolute' fact that Thai ladies enjoy sex with their 'own kind' - I think not - perhaps Thai ladies also carry the view that sex with their 'own kind' is easily abandoned when other attributes are on display that enhance the relationship and bring a deeper meaning to the sexual activity.

I'd have thought that Thai women are seeking foreigners when they already have kids from a Thai.

 

  Thai women are in no way different and want to have a good looking partner they can have good sex and perhaps a good chat.

 

Unfortunately, do too many foreigners believe that they have a bigger one and all that <deleted>.

 

  I don't think a Thai man would look in a bar to find the true love for his life. It's similar to animals, Thai men do not want to raise the kids of somebody else.

 

Why do too many foreigners believe that the woman marries him because he's so handsome? 

 

It's only about financial security and if foreigners build a house after a few weeks of knowing them, I do understand them. 

 

If I were a Thai girl, I'd perhaps do the same. Better some cash, money for my kids from the first marriage and a place to live than being poor.

 

 

 

  

 

 

I am wondering where this strange myth of Farang husband and Thai wife/girlfriend not being able to communicate originates

 

My wife and I discuss all manner of topics, we have built a home, bought land, raised a family, raised cattle together, ok usually, I admit conversations are related to our daily existence, lifestyle and future, you know the stuff that actually directly affects our family life that we have in common and enjoy discussing

 

I have a fleeting interest in politics but only were it affects us directly have no requirement for deep meaningful analysis.

 

I am struggling to understand the supposed need of a farang to have 'intelligent' conversations about a life they have 'left behind' to start a new life in Thailand!! Sounds to me like too many are short of interests to occupy their minds and do not take responsibility to step out of a rut they have traversed for a large part of their lives prior to arriving in Thailand

 

To answer the question of Isaanbiker - on a personal note I have never had any issues attracting women, although age has faded my looks a little, I do believe my wife was also attracted by my easy going positive personality. Never been rich so I guess that blows 80% of the Tvisa fossil reasoning out of the water, in the main I guess we just bonded, never failed to communicate honestly, make a great team

 

Above all I have always made sure my wife has confidence and the understanding that whatever comes our way we will deal with it, and I will always be there for her.

 

Just a normal everyday Farang Thai relationship right?

So you're gonna learn some village language which only she and her relatives speak?

Or you'll learn Central Thai which is probably her 3rd language?

Yeah, my wallet has never failed to attract women either.

Although the exchange rate has worn it's width a little. 

 

Being rich ........ 20,000bht/month income is double what most Thai guys can offer.

Rural agricultural workers often get less than 5k/month.
