Soooo... I successfully submitted my application at CW immigration for non-O 90-day for marriage.  Wife had to be present for interview.

Then we had our house inspection, and of course wife had to be present for interview & photos.

I was given an appointment to come back to immigration on March 5, presumably to get my 90-day stamp.  My question: Does wife have to come with me?  I would guess not, but I'd hate to waste a trip, but she'd rather not come and we don't want to get child care for the kid.

I'm thinking I could bring her PP & ID card (they already have her signed copies of these); update the bank passbook and make a copy.  Is that enough?

Your appointment is for you to receive the extension approval stamp in your passport and that's all you need to take. Family not required.

better call in advance ... "if it is ready"... had cases when still married (lol) that the visa would only be ready day +1 (even I was technically on overstay after the 30 day consideration)

No need for your wife to be with you when you return to get the visa and 90 day entry stamps done.

The next time she will need to be will be when you apply for the one year extension of stay.

A friend of mine picked up the extension, no problem. But we asked first if it was OK.

You were not on overstay technically or otherwise.

The report back to receive the extension stamp permits you to be in Thailand until immigration is ready. It is not unknown when they are busy for the extension to take a couple of weeks after than the 30 days stamped in your passport. They will not stamp a new date even if the extension is not ready.

You are not on overstay after the report back date.

In a province where Imm. does home visits does one need to have witnesses present when Imm. visits?

I have read of 4 different ways this might play out...

1) They might ask you to bring the witness to immigration (this is a case where a visit is not done).

2) They will interview your neighbors during the visit.  This is what we had expected last week at CW.

3) They will interview a witness during the visit. This is what happened in our case; witness was the wife's sister.  The officer prepared a written statement which she signed.

4) No visit, no witness, no nothing.

I guess it depends on which office you use, and which IO you get. Also, their mood and whether their feet hurt on that particular day. It's also a function of the phase of moon and approaching of the monsoon season, whether they have had lunch or not and if the buffalo is sick.
