I Didn't Cancel My Work Permit

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I left Thailand in 2018 as my employment contract finished and I wanted to try living in another country. I was too busy to cancel my work permit before I left. I'm currently in Thailand and will probably start teaching for a school again in May. What needs to be done and how much is the fine? Should I wait until I have a job and let the school's visa department (if they have one) handle it? Also, I now have a new passport as my last one was full. My passport number is different, too. So, will I be able to get a new work permit without having to cancel my old one?

Any insights would be much appreciated.

If the work permit office checks using your name they may see the work permit was not canceled and their could be a fine for it.

Having a new passport may prevent problems if you did not cancel your extension of stay before leaving the country.

Thanks for the info ubonjoe. Any idea how much the fine is? I seem to recall a past post saying it's 5000 baht, but could be wrong.
