I think you are crazy.  Regular influenza still is killing more people.  There are other infectious diseases killing more people every day than covid. So according to you we should all be on lock down from birth.

I think this will peak by end of May and be gone by August, and possibly return in some form in the winter. But I don’t think it will be as hard the second wave, as countries will isolate outbreaks better. The more people who get it the less dangerous it will be. It will probably circulate in the future but with less impact.

So I think things will improve after August.

I think, depending on the weather, it will be sooner than that.

best to submit your post to the government, there's a person in charge of such matters (meaning, anything related to Covid19 and foreigners) his name is Anutin, please feel free to submit your recommendations to him

Just read that in Belgium, its not old or sick people dying, its young fit healthy people. Mabe people should start to take this more seriously. Unknown waters at the moment.

More 30-39 year olds are infected

Not according to reports this morning

So what are the stats you are reading?

Certainly that is the case in many western countries from my last reading

Death rates higher for over 50 with comorbidities and developing ARDS, but positive Dx higher in 30-39 group

Why does soap work so well on the SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus and indeed most viruses? Because it is a self-assembled nanoparticle in which the weakest link is the lipid (fatty) bilayer. A two part thread about soap, viruses and supramolecular chemistry.

The soap dissolves the fat membrane and the virus falls apart like a house of cards and “dies”, or rather, we should say it becomes inactive as viruses aren’t really alive. Viruses can be active outside the body for hours, even days.

To me the statistics coming out of nearly every country but South Korea are useless garbage. South Korea is the only country who did massive testing so their numbers should be the closest to reality. Even with their massive testing these numbers are most likely lower because of all of the mild symptom people. All of the other countries are only testing the sickest of the sick, so their numbers are useless and only server to scare people. When looking at South Korea's numbers, it would seem we are looking at the regular flu or maybe a slightly stronger strain.

"In South Korea, for example, which had an early surge of cases, the death rate in Covid-19 patients ages 80 and over was 10.4%, compared to 5.35% in 70-somethings, 1.51% in patients 60 to 69, 0.37% in 50-somethings. Even lower rates were seen in younger people, dropping to zero in those 29 and younger."

China built hospitals very quickly in Wuhan.  Perhaps, Yinn's solution would be a different sort of emergency building project ... see video below ... [[SARCASM ALERT]]

That only totals up to less than 20,000 a day, plus it's got Covid at only 56 yet there has been almost 9,000 deaths in 90 days...which equates to over 100....let's check this graph in anothee few weeks or months. Still can't believe people think this is a conspiracy by Soros or the banks...it's real, it's happening on your doorstep, it's frightening and it's gonna get a lot worse.

This was more or less the idea of Boris Johnson  and his advisors.

See the video Larry posted.

The modeling study of the Imperial College that was published a couple of days ago calculated that with this approach the UK would have about half a million deaths from Covid19, the US about 2.2 millions. Thailand was not modelled.

For 8 people who couldn't breathe and needed a ventilator to survive,  there would be 1 (one) ventilator available.

As a consequence from this study,  the UK changed it's approach and is introducing measures of social distancing (social distancing are things like school closures,  prohibition of gatherings and crowds,  restriction of travel and movements, even lock downs).

During SARS, the only thing that worked was social distancing.

Unfortunately,  the study of the Imperial College also predicted that for SARS2-Covid19 social distancing would be necessary for much longer than a couple of weeks, see Larry's video. They are talking of school closures for 5 months. Which society would stomach this?

Take your pick or find something better.

My thought is the virus is fixed by "human" and now tested, as the other ones.

Yesterday i left Thailand and saw many foreign people in Suvarnabhumi without masks, amazing !

Asians mostly had there masks. I was in the Asian way mode.

So not really weird to understand why the virus spread.

ALso the under estimating of this danger by all governments ! Now they are too late, as usual.

All the other past viruses should have woken them up , but no. They are still on square one.

A miracle, so relative little amount of people died, yet. But who knows what is in the future?

Nothing  amazing about not wearing a mask unless you’re ill.  The amazing things is people still wear them depriving those who should wear one but can’t get one.

Watch at about 5.30

Different times, different disease, we are far more more advanced with technology than then, remember they didn't find a vaccine till 1963 or 1964 for the Spanish flu. By the time the second wave hits us there will be a vaccine, that or there will be enough herd to stop the spread further.

My thoughts?  Stop all this over reaction.  Let it run its course.  If 2 % of the population die, so be it.   The virus is like a giant electrical signal.  It will find the shortest path.  You try and close off this path (tourism), or airlines, and all that happens is people and the virus will go somewhere else.  Now you close businesses, shut down cities, etc.   People can not work, lose money, businesses fail, no GRE or SAT testing so people can not get into schools or colleges.  People in college can not graduate, lose current job offers or future job offers.  And some required courses offered every other year now delay things.  Kids home from school ratchets up tensions in a house hold.  Dual working parents now have to sort out child care during the day or lose their jobs.  So now their kids are in contact with other people anyway while out of school.  The long term effects can be quite daunting and might kill more people than the virus.  Look at the financial markets.  Billions if not Trillions up in smoke.

Now add in the number of elderly people that are living but really not in good or strong health.  Very un natural for a species.  They sit around in the reclining chair all day, watch Jerry Springer, minds go to mush as they do less every day.  Many are in care facilities that drain a family's finances, or are at home with a  younger relative and that can strain things quite a bit.   Is society better off with so many aged?  It may sound in humane, but until you see friends or relatives linger for years and years and how it affects a house hold, you may not understand.

1. Where do you want some of these  weak and old to isolate? Many live with family for care. Who will look after them? Most people are humane and will not abandon the elderly or the sick. How would one take some of these sick people away? Do you want children with immune disease or lung conditions to be  ripped from their parents arms and sent to concentration camps?  Some of the  people who pushed this concept back in the 1930's and 1970's left a trail of death and despair.  Now, I do appreciate that Hitler and company are popular with some Thais, and  others made their fortunes propping up the Pol Pot  regime, but somehow I don't believe that the Thai people will embrace the concept of death camps for their parents.

2, You are under the false assumption that if  young people become ill from this  infection its just a cold. Maybe for some, but others will have serious complications and others will die. Young people are at risk. It was a false assumption that young people would escape this disease.

The US CDC just released some  shocking data; Yes, the oldest patients had the greatest likelihood of dying and of being hospitalized. But of the 508 patients known to have been hospitalized, 38 percent were notably younger — between 20 and 54. And nearly half of the 121 patients who were admitted to intensive care units were adults under 65.

China recently released  its review of  2,143 pediatric cases. 125 were severely or critically ill.  76 were age 5 or younger. 40 were under 1 year old. Although all were saved and recovered, they do have varying degrees of damage. A child on a respirator is at risk of brain damage. Their lungs are damaged and in the future they will be at risk for other illnesses.  Many will suffer as they age.

You do not seem to appreciate that Thailand's youth are not particularly healthy, not as healthy as some others in the region like Singapore or  Japan. Thailand's youth  has an obesity epidemic, diabetes, severe allergies andimmune disorders etc.  Thailand has been experiencing an increase in HIV infections amongst its youth and these  people are vulnerable.  What of those with latent TB or hepatitis?   Thailand has labour shortages now. Do you think it can  withstand a die off of young people?

I don't find you amusing.

Depressing and distressing though.

Please have some consideration for the value of  life.  Thank you

So in the USA around 250 under 65s have been admitted to hospital and none

have yet perished, were all these admissions fit and healthy? Were they obese?

In the UK the youngest fatality, sadly, was a man I his mid 40's suffering from MND,

who would certainly fall into the at risk category.

On the face of it, your statistics are alarming, as are those quoted regarding the

young people in Europe being hospitalised, but without further medical details

on these patients it is difficult to determine if this is indeed a significant danger

Ringling fit people.

That's right, the same in the Netherlands too. Most people in intensive care there are men under 50 years of age, and the youngest death so far was a 16 year old boy.

Please stop spreading falsehoods; the situation is bad enough as it is without people spreading all kinds of false facts. I am back in The Netherlands right now; the stats are updated on a daily basis and posted in all major news outlets: 76 deaths so far, ages 63 - 95. Not a single death below 63. The 16 year old death was an administrative mistake and was rectified last week already.

True, they have had a large number of young people hospitalized and some in the ICU as well. However, all younger people have recovered so far. And the majority of infected patients in the ICU are elderly people.
