Foreigners and locals in Thailand told to STAY INDOORS

golf - really

can you do pressups or running on the spot

Walking on a golf course, perfect social distancing, daft to close exercise choices. A guy i knew topped himself a few days ago in UK, Corona was the reason, closing his golf course could have well been the final straw

Possible the most sensible comment to have come from the government to date. If people ignore the peril and keep socialising this virus will sweep rampantly through the country.

Something to seriously consider especially on  city streets is that soi dogs  generally survive on various food sources generated  by  normal daily  human business. How long before these dogs start  to suffer  real starvation and pack  fights  start and/or  menace anyone on the streets? Any  good  samaritan who feels the need to continue to go and feed may face a real problem .

Those good Samaritans caused the problem in the first place, now we have way too many dogs, well done to them

Socializing is perfectly safe, as long as you keep your distance, do not shake hands, and avoid anyone who is coughing or sneezing. We are talking about 1000 infections in a nation of 68 million people. Panic is setting in, and alot of inane thoughts and edicts are being tossed about. There is absolutely no need for the entire nation to self isolate. The virus will come in cycles. One two week cycle does not mean the end of this virus. Common sense is required, in the absence of intelligent leadership.

The news comes after provincial governors in Chonburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan announced the closure of shopping malls, golf courses

The item I read in the Pattaya news section said club houses were closed but not the courses - so which is it?

In Phuket, the governor went one step further and requested tourists to not go outside between 5pm and midnight.

Excellent advice. New research shows CCPcovid19 has siesta between these hours. Very smart virus as seems to know international time-lines.

5 days ago there was 411 so more than doubled. If doubles every 5 days that's 2000 in 5 days from now 4,000 in 10 days so around 16,000 in a months time. You must be very smart though because you say socialising is perfectly safe whereas almost every expert in the world would disagree.

I have no problem with closing malls, bars, entertainment venues and other places where people congregate.

But I don't understand a nationwide "stay indoors" edict.

I walk between 3 - 10 kms daily for my health, either on the streets of my quiet neighborhood or a quiet section of beach. I can easily keep a 2 meter distance between myself and others in either case.

Now I'm being asked to stay inside a relatively crowded and cool house instead? How is that more healthy?

I thought Thailand's salvation is the hot sun and humidity which makes virus transmission difficult. Now it's okay for me to sit in a confined house or a crowded, air conditioned Big C but I have to stay out of the fresh air and sunlight? Sorry, doesn't make any sense to me.

Mandate wearing masks in public places (which ARE effective in preventing a carrier from transmitting the virus to a non infected person), and break up gatherings of people, but don't lock us down in houses.

Consider some fresh air and doing exercises on the balcony.

If you get the urge to leap off, don't forget your 'fit to fly' certificate.

Pretty simple, If you see a Thai policeman or Thai soldier pointing a gun at you and telling you to go home, go home.

We are visitors here - did you forget?

Lots of mommy boys here.

Cannot do laundry or boil water. Why do you think so many come here and a couple weeks later, have a live in?

I can look after myself quite well. The live in is for other purposes. I can send you diagrams for a small fee.

My live in says "I ain't for housework, you want someone to do that hire a maid, my only work is in the bed"

Central has chairs set up 1.5 meters apart or so.  Still many foreigners not wearing masks, yet so few people in total that social distancing is relatively easy for those of us practicing it....  the Russian holiday families do not seem to care.

Same here, will be interesting to see if I run into any of the Thai "officials" in the next day or 2 asking me to get off the sidewalks and go home

Just heard that Nong Nuch Gardens has been closed (the GF used to work there and keeps in touch with them).

Is it a curfew or not? They say stay inside but are there hammered a curfew by law or only an advice to stay inside. For some stay inside mean not go shopping, visit restaurants, meet friends etc., for others born unsocial as me it mean no individual cycling, walk/jogging even if its far distance from every human so what is the order by law?

Thanks

Felt.
