Crime 19-Year-Old Arrested in Pattaya for Carrying Homemade 9mm Gun & Ammunition
Picture courtesy of Kaoded. A 19-year-old man was arrested early morning in Pattaya after police found him carrying a homemade 9mm firearm loaded with ammunition, reportedly while waiting to confront a rival group. At around 03:00 on 12 July, police at Pattaya City Station received reports of a noisy gathering of youths at the public park in front of the Meteorological Department building on Khao Phra Tamnak Hill, Pattaya. Police, led by Lt. Col. Enak Sarathongyu, dispatched officers including Deputy Inspector Sgt. Kittisak Sutthinithatsawong to investigate. Upon arrival, they found over 20 youths aged between 15 and 25 congregating. During a search of motorcycles and individuals, one suspect attempted to flee but was quickly stopped. The suspect, identified as Mr. Yod, 19, was found carrying a black shoulder bag containing a homemade firearm, one 9mm cartridge loaded in the pistol, an additional 9mm bullet and a folding knife. During questioning, Mr. Witawat Pukyod stated that he and his friends had been out riding before encountering a rival group. Fearing trouble, he retrieved the homemade gun he had purchased some time ago for self-defence. However, before any confrontation occurred, police arrived and arrested him. Authorities have documented the suspect’s details and are continuing their investigation. Mr. Yod faces charges related to unlawful possession of firearms and will be prosecuted according to the law. This incident highlights ongoing concerns over youth violence and illegal firearms in the Pattaya area, prompting calls for increased policing and community vigilance.
