Jomtien Immigration Requirements for 800K Bank Letter

I'm asking about the timing for the bank letter that is required to verify your account, with an 800k baht balance. I have read that it has to be dated the same day you apply; and that one day before is OK. Can anybody verify, from recent personal experience, that 1 day before is OK?

I have also read that, at some point in time, they required a same day ATM transaction, with a copy of passbook made after that transaction. Can anybody verify or refute that from recent personal experience?

3 weeks ago it was.

For your second question I cannot really answer as I have a fixed account and it has not been required but no idea for a standard account although it sounds right.

Hard to know what is required exactly until you fail. I have always found it best to go along with the same routine and not get sent away. So, for me, it is always the same. Set off early morning. Withdraw a few baht at ATM. Update book... get bank letter... take copy of last page of book which includes the withdrawal. Go straight to immigration.

As to your questions, I believe a 24 hour window for the letter is accepted, and you only need to do a transaction if your bank-book update does not usually print a new line at the time you do it, unless there is a transaction. My Bangkok Bank system will, so it should not be obligatory. You need your bank letter to match the book balance.

I have two accounts and deposit in the main one, the day I go to immigration just 100 baht, it has always been accepted with the letter, written on the same day, I never let the amount go below the required 800,000 in the main account.

Thanks for all the input! I'm concerned about the time it will take at the bank, which opens at 0930, since most of them are now crowded, to make a transaction; then get a copy of the passbook; then get the letter from the bank; then go to immigration to complete that process in the mob scene I expect to see there. Not even sure I can get all that done in one day. I'll be trying it on Thursday; 8 days before my visa expiration date.

I am, of course, very irritated by the necessity of this long exposure; which will then be magnified by having to go to immigration again the following day to pick up my stamped passport! It is extremely irresponsible of Thai Immigration to insist on requiring extensions during this crisis.

You know for 12800 baht you can avoid(if you have to) show medical insurance or 800,000 in the bank & get a vip pass a 1 minute que front of the line in & out if you use a visa service. PM me if you want the name Painless & way worth it.So it is actually 1900 baht less when you factor in the 1900 yearly visa extension fee.And for me getting insurance is a waste. U.S. citizens I guess are required.I would rather fly home since it is next to free & I don't have to worry about subpar services.
