To hear this news is quite disturbing. I fail to understand why this PM cannot make the necessary decisions to close the Thailand Immigration Department immediately.
It should have been closed months ago with this CV being known.

Surely it can’t be over the loss if revenues? What about the Thai workers there? Does Prayuth not see that danger or does he just look the other way.

Sonething seriously wrong with this lack of leadership in this time of great concern.

stupid me I didn't check and I was there last Wednesday, for picking up the stamp for finalising the non-O VISA extension.  it took 30 minutes queuing into the building, then my queue number was 21xx, that took 5 hours before I could go into the office.

if 3000 foreigners queuing up there everyday, and hardly anyone keeping 2m apart, it would be surprised if everyone safe !

Depends on whether the service takes your stuff in BKK is open....

you should tell immigration officers if you have any Covid 19 symptoms.  it will be interesting to know their reactions

Chonburi immigration has no spacing, inside or outside. The singular outside queue weaves up and down, to achieve pretty much the least possible social distancing that is physically possible.

Immigration is a different law

The officers should consider letting the foreigner have auto visa extension or online application.

So many people gathering at the office. If someone is infected, other people all will infected too

And the infected foreigner going back to their place, local people around them will infected too.

Hospital will get more overcrowded. Immigration really have to decide to stop the spreading

Everyone at CW should just start coughing. I’m sure they would close the doors. Can’t be everyone though, just like 30 people or so it doesn’t seem fake. ????

It was already outrageous to force people to go there to extend their visas before this news. If they don't shut it down now, the Thai Immigration should be charged with crimes against humanity!!

Don't be silly, that would be the logical, responsible and decent thing to do.

This seems relevant to this thread. Drivers whose Thai licences are about to expire are being told not to report to relevant offices to renew as this will endanger staff.They can renew 15 days after emergency decree is over.

MTT only deals with VOA and visa exempts. Other tourists visa (SETV/METV) still need to go to CW. I went to MTT yesterday with embassy letter and they sent me back to CW.

Like you say they should simply extend all expiry dates until end of June to buy us all some time.

Based on the rough math that at any one time during their waking day, there's maybe 26 million Thai people doing EXACTLY as you say, and looking at the infection rates then yes, it would appear to be the arrogant, mask-averse, know-it-all farangistani's that are causing all the problems here.

Good post, @tethered.  Makes you wonder why this logic is being applied selectively.

It is time for the Thai government to create exemptions in such a global crisis. Not every foreigner is a criminal. And the bureaucracy and paper war should be suspended urgently, at least until June 30th. Many foreigners will remember how they are treated here.

Just overstay,what are they going to do put everyone in detention pits ,i would overstay and i would refuse to pay any fine under these circumstances,my life,my health comes before any rules.

    Ridiculous they haven't given everyone an automatic 6 month extension on whatever the expiration date is for whatever visa they are using.  Respect your staff and put safety first for them and those who are being forced to go the the immigration offices to do services not available on-line or through the mail.  

Its a goverment building that has 3 infections,but that building has the imm offices so it's not safe is it.I would not go there sod that i would overstay let them sort it out,we are guests in the kingdom of Thailand or has that just been swept under the carpet.

The airports and borders are closed, nobody gets in or out except maybe with a boat?

I don't see any reason why they don't give free visa to anybody who unwillingly is trapped in Thailand and not being able to leave.

Except revenue, as you mentioned.

went to Khorat Immi today for renewing my annual: they do a phantastic job there, check everyone's papers in an outside sheltered area with clear distancing. Once through, you get your paper bunch back with a waiting no.  Move to an outside shaded waiting area and only go inside once your no. is called. Inside = 5 officers with 5 distanced chairs (i.e. theoret. total of customers not exceeding 5 in that wide room). I was out and done after 45 min. = hope they will stick to this procedere after Covid!

Not sure if you're talking about Covid, or the pointless amounts of paperwork required multiple times to extend permission to stay.

Looks like those stranded in Thailand aren't a priority right now. With regard to the Brits anyway.
