Thinking of Koh Chang? Think again - Trat sealed off to tourists

The governor of Trat has sealed off his province effective from 12.01 this morning, Saturday.

No more foreigners are allowed, even Thais may find it impossible to get into the locked down province.

The move comes after an exodus of foreign tourists thought to number at least 4,000 began going to the holiday island of Koh Chang this week.

Many travelled from Pattaya before it was locked down.

All main roads at three checkpoints in Khao Saming and Bor Rai districts are sealed to foreigners.

Thai media said it was unsure if Thai students could return home or even if Thai people leaving the province to do business outside would be allowed back.

Essential supplies like medicine and food can pass into Trat.

But if you are a foreigner forget it - Trat and Koh Chang do not want you.

The move came after a four hour Covid-19 crisis meeting in the eastern seaboard province yesterday.

Many foreigners already in Trat and staying on Koh Chang will be concerned about what this may mean for them but so far nothing has yet been reported in the Thai media, notes Thaivisa.

Started by Trump when he banned all Chinese, followed by Europeans and then the Brits. Thailand is one of the last countries in the world to ban foreigners. Logical conclusion therefore is that Thailand is among the least racist country in the world ????

Oz is urging all visitors to leave. Thailand is still allowing extensions.

We will not forget when things are back to normal. Hope nobody goes back to the dump.
