So is outsourcing the propaganda to CCP Xinhua: https://www.thaienquirer.com/7301/thai-media-is-outsourcing-much-of-its-coronavirus-coverage-to-beijing-and-thats-just-the-start/ Learnings from the Motherland.

The virus does not respect your beliefs. You couldn't make it up. Only last month, there was a spike in Thailand's COVID 19 caused by returnees from a Muslim festival in Malaysia which drew 15,000 faithful and lasted several days. Now, while officials are still trying to track down the web of infections resulting from that farce, history has repeated itself, this time in Indonesia - with similar devastating consequences in terms of new infections. With the rest of Thailand is in lockdown mode and the entire population virtually under house arrest, religious freedom must be made to conform with the raft of new rules and regulations made to protect the safety and security of us all at this time of crisis. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Suspend all religious festivals and gatherings, close down all places of worship (yes, including Buddhist temples) and ask the temporarily redundant priests, monks and imams pray for the rest of us while self-isolating. Amen. Edited April 9, 2020 by Krataiboy

Methuselah
Although logic suggests that these Thai returnees contracted the virus in Indonesia, there remains a possibility that they could have been infected in Thailand before they entered Indonesia. An interesting experiment would have been to test all Thais entering Indonesia, which would then give us a more realistic impression of actual infections in Thailand. This was a planned repatriation flight and all the necessary precautions were in place. They are Thai citizens and are entitled to return. How would you feel if you were told by your mother country that you couldn't come home?
MarcelV
As I live in the region, I'd danm well hope the quarantine will be applied successfully and there will be no infected sent back into the populace.

gk10002000
Now just imagine how many people around the world really had or have or carried the virus? So many more than most officials assert as they only list the tested positive confirmed cases. I think I read that Iceland has tested the largest percentage of a soverign population. Unfortunately any statistics from that island may be a bit misleading as Iceland, is not quite the same as the USA or the UK or several other Nations that have large massive airports and had millions of travelers from around the world crossing their borders in recent months

A country of 250 million+ people, comparatively low <3,000 confirmed cases and yet 42/76 of these returning Thais have tested positive....! A reasonable conclusion is that certain countries don’t have the infrastructure to test and monitor effectively, so if we are trying to take some comfort from relatively low reported infection numbers, this might be misplaced.... I wonder what will happen in almost all African countries which are for the most part under chronic medical equipment; it’s almost desert in some

For way too many people their religion provides some false sense of solace and comfort, but it can turn out to be a true wolf in sheep's clothing. Some historians argue that one of the principal reasons why the plague ("Black Death") swiped through Europe at such an astonishing rate in the middle ages was because people frequently gathered in churches, praying to "God" to save them. It had exactly the opposite effect, of course, as worshipers - unknowingly - infected one another, carrying the disease back home to their families. And what they also didn't consider was that it was "God" himself who created and unleashed that disease... if you believe that such a supernatural entity exists at all. Now fast forward a few centuries and realize that nothing much has changed. People still tend to flock to their church, temple, mosque or whatever, hoping to find some redemption there, endangering themselves and their families in the process. Even the Pope, the alleged "Representative of God on Earth" (what arrogance!) held a prayer to ask "God" for relief from Covid-19. Although he really should know better where that virus came from in the first place! Please don't degrade Pope. You are not helping with that. What's wrong with pray to God. You may not believe in God but other people do. Please respect that. It's not as if Pope ask people to gather for mass prayer. It has been online for some time.

seajae
reports from family and friends living in Phatthalung are that they are having similar problem, muslims are ignoring the govt directives and many muslims are coming down with the virus in certain areas there as they are still mixing in groups etc. You would think common sense would tell them to be at least a bit wary at this time and to take precautions, doesnt make sense.
