Covid-19: Fruit importers/exporters running lucrative sidelines making illegal hand sanitizers

Naew Na reported that Thai authorities including the Department of Special Investigations and the Food and Drug Administration raided two factories yesterday in Pathum Thani north of Bangkok.

 

The factories and cool rooms in Klong 1 and Klong 2 were facilities run by the importers and exporters of fruit.

 

The facilities had been used to mix up thousands of liters of illegal alcohol based gel or hand sanitizer.

 

Thousands of items were seized including ready mixed gel and 95% alcohol.

 

None of the products worth 10 million baht were properly labelled or registered.

 

Investigations continue.

You are assuming they were screwing their customers. The seizure was because:

For all we know, those products were everything they claimed to be, and the government just screwed people who could not get those products through "regulated" channels.

So a company adapting to make a needed product and supply needed jobs was raised and closed.
