Since lockdown I have experienced these more, and been unable to shift them.

Usually a few good night's sleep, exercise, good food is able to get rid of them.... I am 35 years old, non smoker, fairly healthy lifestyle.

I am lucky enough to be able to carry on working during lockdown, and have been looking at a screen quite a lot (for my work).  Could this be to blame?

Other than these circles / bags I am the picture of health.. so it is quite frustrating nothing seems to shift them this time! Am I condemned to these for life??!

Can sometimes be caused by how you use pillows; maybe too firm or somehow putting pressure around the eyes while you are sleeping.  You could try putting a well padded blindfold on for a few nights and see if there is any change.

Thanks.. I tend to sleep on my right side, and it is more pronounced there. But how would a blindfold help, as wouldn't the pressure would still be the same?

Are you adequately hydrate? Beside sleep issues,  a common cause of this is dehydration, and it is the hottest time of year now.

I get through about a 1.5 litre bottle of water a day, plus juice and tea.

That is really not much especislly in this weather. And tea tends to dehydrate.

Will try up that volume over the next few days.... I think it was proven that tea in small quantities hydrates as much as water. But I take your point and can certainly drink some more water.

I was actually thinking it could be to do with lack of sunlight? As for obvious reasons I've been indoors a lot more.

Did your mom or dad have these types of issues... can be genetic... or stress.

No not really, at a young age, so I don't think genetic.

Stress it might be... I don't feel I should be more stressed than anyone else. But staying cooped up might just take its toll without knowing it.

it's not a comparative measure... there is a lot of stress for everyone now.

it can be stressful just watching the news - and that could be impacting your sleep... do you wake refreshed?

Can't remember the last time I woke up feeling refreshed. After I've jumped in the shower etc I feel a lot more awake... but not had the refreshed feeling for a long time.

Maybe I am going to sleep too late... but I usually prefer that I sleep pretty much as soon as my head hits the pillow, rather than rolling around not being able to sleep.

I should also note that I usually get 7-9 hours, but don't feel particularly refreshed usually when I wake up.

That could also be a cause... for those of us used to partying (or at least socialising) at lot more, being alone indoors isn't good. Could = stress which = dark circles

Seriously, get some Codiphen at a pharmacy. Drowsy antihistamine. If you are anything like me, you'll sleep for ten hours straight.

I am not responsible for any bed-wetting.

yes i am experiencing a form of sensory deprivation in the form of zero physical contact with anyone since March 10. I thought i could breeze through this but I am really not happy about the lock down extension until June 1. And just the idea that I can't go anywhere is starting to really bother me.

There are methods to help with this but I also thrash around a bit - - and most days it seems my best/deepest sleep is after my morning coffee [6 am] I go back to sleep...

everything is out of kilter lately - - I think the state of the world is weighing heavily..

Some people have it by genetics. I naturally always have it a bit at least and easily worse.

Lack of sunlight / a lot of salt in food / not enough water / smoking weed.

Well I think I'm guilty of the first 2 things, and possibly the 3rd.

Will start trying to reduce salt. I have a tendency to put hot sauce on many things, which I guess is quite salty.....

Not in Thailand right now but from what I hear from friends there, you can still go out in the day for a walk etc if you are back before curfew.

Obviously still pretty boring but at least you can go outdoors.
