Non-Immigrant/residency and/or valid work permits are required by most of the insurance companies.

Visitors with tourist visa should be insured in their home countries.

Watch out on this subject, I have had people coming to me with so called life insurance!! What the should call it is death or health accident insurance, most of them only wanted to insure my son. They dont have the same kind of cover we can get in UK for example. I would like to hear from anyone who can offer me a good policy, covering family.  ???

Thanks pschef and george!

I'm working here with a work permit, but the question was for my mom, who, since all her kids have all started working, was thinking about coming over to live in Thailand to be with her two grandsons and had asked me to check about the insurance situation.

Thanks again for the advice.
