If I were (and I am not) a well placed, powerful politico with an agenda, I would want to test a theory before implementing it on a larger scale. It is one thing to respond to an obvious need for public welfare and quite another thing to use that situation (manifest it?) as part of a larger deployment. Last week I broke my crystal ball. so I will just say it is gut instinct; that this is only the beginning of a series of pandemics/government shutdowns/crises/ social reorganization programs that will be moderated and escalated to achieve an end no normal person has any concept of. I am afraid you are right. Right out of the play book of Obama’s man Ezekiel Emanuel. (NEVER LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE). This is the perfect storm for military rulers to consolidate power, no more government protest, no Future Forward Party. Anybody that gets out of line now will be dealt with, what we do is for the greater good of the country. Unsure if the great leader and friends’ drinks or not, not relevant, I am sure their well-stocked up. As for those wealthy families that own the alcohol brewery’s, it may be a way to put them in their place and show who really has the power. You may be rich but watch this. DFWM. As for the economy and bringing in taxes, I think they could care less. It will not affect them one bit.
realfunster
I honestly don't know which is more annoying, the prattle about maybe having to go a few weeks without a drink. (TiT- seek and ye shall find..) or the sanctimonious prats who always appear in such threads throwing out words like 'dependency' and 'inebriates'. No, on second thoughts, it's definitely the latter.

Popular Post IamNoone88
I don't really drink ..... but the thought of not being able to buy some beer and bottle of red when you like irks me. It a loss of a "freedom" rather the loss of a drink.

Let his wife go but he's still at the police station. 20 bottles of liquor... and primarily he had been stopped for driving without a helmet, then a question "what's in the bag" and go go go to the police station. So if you are in a hunt for some booze be a perfect resident. Also to cover your purchase use empty tea bottles, Oolong Tea (POKKA), 1.5L ones are good and large enough. And for very desperate folks... 70% medical ethanol, 50/50 mix with water and then juice etc. 50-70 THB per bottle (450ml) at BigC (when available). My God - people must be desperate!! 1

Actually this crisis has been dealt with in a proffesional way here in Thailand. A PM making decisiions backed by science and facts, and a united population that understood and acted resposible. Now compare that with the "Greatest Country on Earth" where its Supreme Leader suggests injecting bleach might work against covid, and a deeply divided population with bizarre complot theories. I'm not sure i have ever read a post so out of touch with reality. Are you locked up away from the rest of the country and can't see whats really going on ? 7 1

May 31, 2020 is optimistic. Never going to happen. May 31, 2021 maybe in a best case scenario. Anutin is on record saying alcohol is too dangerous to sell until we have a vaccine. Meaning it is going to be this way for at least a year. It also telegraphs that these guys are planning on keeping the emergency decree in place until a vaccine is available. They might as well just pull the aisle down entirely and put something else in its place. It is going to be a long time before sales resume.
