Pattaya: More misery as pubs, bars and entertainment ordered shut until the end of the month

 

 

Chonburi governor Phakharathorn Thienchai has ordered that all bars, clubs and places of entertainment in the province that includes Pattaya be shut until the 31st of May. 

 

Restaurants can open for takeaway but no entertainment can be provided on site and social distancing and other regulations must be in place. 

 

The closure order also relates to a whole host of activities including snooker and pool halls, fitness centers, public swimming pools, skating and rollerblading centers, zoos, facilities for children's play, theaters and water parks. 

 

Spas and massage shops are also to be off limits until the end of this month. 

 

Supermarkets at malls and other essential shops can continue to open. 

 

Pattaya residents had hoped that the governor might follow Bangkok's lead in allowing eating at restaurants so long as social distancing was followed. 

 

This too has been dashed - though restaurants can open people can only eat and drink at home off the premises.

i quit drinking anyway but im truly fed up with eating at home

I have seen several 7-11 and Family Marts closed down.  When these kind of places can't survive a downturn for a couple of  months, you know the local economy is shot.

The Chief Medic Guy advising that Government had already said Bars Clubs Boxing Stadiums would be the very last type of businesses to reopen and not for a long time

That doesnt mean June 1st !!

Even in the UK we are suggesting Christmas and I'd be surprised if Thailand was much earlier because of the prime reason its where people congregate obviously

Soi Honey still 3 places open discretely, Line chat have some very specific accounts, websites flooding with masseuses ready for take-out, outcall. Definitely not a problem in Pattaya now. So many gals, so little time.

 

Pubs, bars and entertainment, why the fuzz?

Bars if reopened now would be 99% empty.

Clubs, no customers.

More likely spring summer 2021 before these places will find a clientele.

I believe the domestic infection numbers and deaths may play a part in when this occurs....  and by Thailand numbers it should be sooner. Where customers come from is another matter.

This is totally incorrect information. Restaurants can open in Pattaya for eat inside the restaurant. Only alcohol has to be consumed off premises.

This was quoted from 3 May. Restaurants are open today. I went to a restaurant last night and lunchtime today. But no alcohol allowed. Can a passing MOD ask WEBFACT to check.

Not just closed bars and nightclubs that will hurt.  Now, we have an uncontrolled Baht, above its 10-year average. They shot themselves in the foot—again.
